 C.  Procedure

 (1) Remove the mounting screws from the antenna base (Fig. 401).

 CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE FORCE WITH THE SEALANT REMOVAL TOOL TO
_______ BREAK THE ANTENNA SEAL. TOO MUCH FORCE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRPLANE SKIN OR THE ELECTRICAL CABLE AT THE ANTENNA BASE.
 (2)  Use the sealant removal tool to break the seal around the antenna base.

 CAUTION: REMOVE THE ANTENNA ONLY AS FAR AS NECESSARY TO DISCONNECT THE
_______ CABLE. DAMAGE TO THE CABLE CAN OCCUR IF YOU PULL THE CABLE.
 (3)  
Remove the antenna far enough to get access to the connector for the antenna cable.

 (4)  
Remove the antenna cable connector from the antenna.

 A. Equipment
 (1)  
Sealing Gun - Six inch cartridge, Senco Research, or equivalent (Not required for material supplied in tubes).

 (2)  
Resistance measuring bridge or ohmmeter that
 can measure 0.001 ohm.

 (3)  
Aerodynamic smoother cutting tool - hardwood or plastic.

 (4)  
Varnish brush - 1 to 2 inches.

 (5)  
Spatula

 B. Consumable Materials
 (1)  
Sealing Compound - BMS 5-95, Class B-1/2 (AMM 20-30-11/201).

 (2)  
Accelerator - as indicated on the sealing compound container (AMM 20-30-11/201).

 (3)  
Aliophatic Naptha - TT-N-95, or equivalent (AMM 20-30-31/201).

 (4)  
Anticorrosion compound - BMS 3-23 (AMM 20-30-41/207).

 (1)  
Make sure the DME-1 and DME-2 circuit breakers on the P18 and P6 circuit breaker panels are open with DO-NOT-CLOSE tags attahed.

Remove the aerodynamic smoother from the antenna base and the mounting area with the cutting tool.

 (3)  
Remove the grease, oil, dirt, and chips from the antenna base and the mounting area.

 (4)  
Apply clean aliphatic naptha with the varnish brush to the antenna base and mounting area (AMM 20-30-31/201).

 (5)  S 164-011Remove the aliphatic naptha with a clean cloth.
 (6)  S 914-012Apply a layer of corrosion preventive compound (SRM 51-20-01).
 (7)  S 434-013Install an O-ring on the new antenna.
 (8)  S 434-014Connect the antenna cable connector to the antenna (Fig. 401).
 (9)  S 424-015Put the antenna in its position and install all but one of the screws.

 (10) Do an electrical bonding test between the antenna base and airplane skin, as follows:
