(2) On the test set, set the controls as follows:
TR ATTEN DB - 15 Function Selector - AUTO 5-180/270 RANGE 180/270 - 270

(3) Set the controls on the VHF NAV control panel as follows:
(a)
The AUTO--MAN switch indicator to the MAN position.
(b)
The frequency display to the 108.00 MHz.
(c)
Make sure the DME indicators shows as follows: 1) shows 5 |0.1 miles 2) After approximately 18 seconds
a) Shows 270 |5 miles b) Track inbound to 263 |5 miles c) Track outbound to 277 |5 miles
3) after approximately 18 seconds a) shows 5 |0.1 miles
(d)
When the DME is locked on, make sure the DME audio output is available at audio selector panel.
(e)
On the test set, set the RANGE switch to 180 and the function selector knob to 180/270.
(f)
Make sure the DME indicators shows 180 |9 miles, track inbound to 173 |2 miles and outbound to 187 |2 miles.

(2) Make sure these circuit breakers on P6 and P18 panels are closed:
DME-1 AC VHF NAV-1 DC DME-2 AC VHF NAV-2 DC INTERPHONE INSTR XFMR-1 AC
INSTR XFMR-2 AC

CAUTION: DO NOT PLACE THE REMOTE TEST SET ANTENNA CLOSER THAN 15 INCHES
_______ TO THE AIRPLANE ANTENNA. DAMAGE TO TEST SET CAN OCCUR.
(3) Place the remote test set antenna approximately 21 inches from the DME antenna.
(a) Make sure the test set antenna should be approximately same height as the airplane antenna.

Connect the coax from the remote test set antenna to the test set which should be located in flight compartment.

Set the test set controls as follows:
(a)
PWR switch - AC or BAT (as appropriate)
(b)
Mode switch - DME
(c)
Velocity Select switch - RANGE
(d)
Velocity HI/LO switch - HI
(e)
Squitter ON/OFF switch - OFF
(f)
X/Y switch - X
E. DME System Test
NOTE: Before you start the test, make sure the other VHF NAV
____ control panel frequency displays are tuned to a frequency other than the test frequency.

Do the DME system operational test procedure.
