R A. Remove the hubcap or the debris guard (if brake fans are installed) (Ref.
R AMM TASK 32-41-11-000-006).
R (1) Do a visual inspection of the tachometer drive mechanism and make
R sure that:
R - the tachometer drive shaft moves freely.
R - there is no deformation (twisting) and/or sign of friction on the
R drive shaft.
R - the splines of the tachometer drive shaft are in the correct
R condition.
R - the splines of the tachometer hubcap or the splines of the debris
R guard (if brake fans are installed) are in the correct condition.

R  (2) If the tachometer drive is damaged:
R  - replace the DRIVE ASSY-TACHOMETER,WHEEL 2 (2680GM) (Ref. AMM TASK
R  32-42-68-000-003) and (Ref. AMM TASK 32-42-68-400-003).
R  (3) If the tachometer hubcap or the debris guard (if brake fans are
R  installed) is damaged:
R  - replace the tachometer hubcap or the debris guard (if brake fans
R  are installed) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-41-11-000-006).
R  (4) If the tachometer drive mechanism is not damaged:
R  - do a functional test of the tachometer (Ref. AMM TASK 32-42-00-720-
R  002) or (Ref. AMM TASK 32-42-00-720-003).
R  (a) if the test is OK:
R  - Make sure that the splines of the tachometer are coated with
R  grease before final assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 32-41-11-400-
R  006).No other maintenance action is necessary.
R  (b) if the test confirms the fault:
R  - replace the TACHOMETER-WHEEL 2 (21GG) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-42-57-
R  000-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-42-57-400-001)
R  (5) If the fault continues:
R  - do the trouble shooting procedure (Ref. TASK 31-32-00-810-933)
R  related to the ANI-6 analog input signal of the SEC 2 COM and SEC 3
R  COM (Ref. ASM 27-92/25).
R  (6) If the fault continues:
R  - do a check and repair the wiring from the tachometer (21GG) pins
R  A/A,C to the first terminal block (Ref. ASM 32-42/02).
R  B. Do the functional test given in Para. 4.A.(4)
