_______ This section gives general information about datalink information systems which are optional. It is divided as follows:
-Cockpit Information Systems (Ref. AMM 46-20-00, P. Block 001)
-Maintenance Information System (Ref. AMM 46-30-00, P. Block 001).
2. System Description

A. Cockpit Information Systems
The Cockpit Information System includes:
-
the Air Traffic and Information Management System (ATIMS) (Ref. AMM 46-21-00, P.Block 001)
-
the Air Traffic Service (ATS) (Ref. AMM 46-22-00, P. Block 001)
-
the Airline Information Services (Ref. AMM 46-23-00, P. Block 001)
-
the Air Traffic Services Unit (ATSU) Router (Ref. AMM 46-24-00, P. Block 001).

Air Traffic and Information Management System (ATIMS) The ATIMS enables Controller-Pilot DataLink Communications (CPDLC) (HF voice in backup) for air traffic management. It also enables:
-the exchange of complex data or specific reports between the aircraft and the ground centers
-automatic reporting (position, intention) for air traffic surveillance,
-specific communications between the airline and the aircraft (operational control) to improve airline operational costs and flexibility.

Air Traffic Services (ATS)
The Air Traffic Services include:
-
the Air Traffic Control (ATC) Future Air Navigation System (FANS) applications: . ATS Facilities Notification (AFN) for connection with an ATC ground center . CPDLC application for datalink communications . Automatic Dependent Surveillance (ADS) for the aircraft path surveillance.

the ATC ARINC 623 applications: . Departure Clearance (DC) application . Oceanic Clearance (OC) application . Automatic Terminal Information Service (ATIS) application.

Airline Information Services These services include the standard Airline Operational Control (AOC). These datalink applications are used by the airline for maintenance, flight operation and administrative purposes.

ATSU router
The ATSU router provides:
-
datalink services to remote AOC applications hosted on on-board peripherals
-
datalink services to the ATC/AOC applications hosted on the ATSU,
