4. Procedure

Subtask 28-46-43-420-051
A. Preparation for Installation
WARNING : USE SOLVENTS/CLEANING AGENTS, SEALANTS AND OTHER SPECIAL
_______ MATERIALS ONLY WITH A GOOD SUPPLY OF AIR. OBEY THE MANUFACTURERS INSTRUCTIONS. PUT ON PROTECTIVE CLOTHING. DO NOT GET THEM IN YOUR MOUTH. DO NOT SMOKE. DO NOT BREATHE THE GAS. THESE MATERIALS ARE POISONOUS, FLAMMABLE AND SKIN IRRITANT. GET MEDICAL HELP IF YOUR SKIN OR EYES BECOME IRRITATED.
(1)
Remove the nut (10) and the washer (9) from the new connector (7), but keep the protective cap on the connector.
(2)
Get access through the opening 550DB(650DB). Use a plastic spatula to remove all remaining sealant.
(3)
Use a clean MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003) made moist with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-026) to clean:
-
the flange and the thread of the connector (7)
-
the thread of the nut (10)
-
the area of RIB26 around the connector hole. sealant from around the connector hole in RIB26.
(4)
Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(5)
Do an inspection of the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
(6)
Apply a small quantity of BONDING AND ADHESIVE COMPOUNDS (Material No. 08-006B), at three positions and equal distances apart, in the groove for the O-ring (8).
(7)
Install the new O-ring (8) in the groove.
NOTE : It takes approximately five minutes for the O-ring to bond in
____ the groove sufficiently to install the connector.

B. Installation of the Vent Surge Tank Harness
(1)
Attach the cord which hangs from the outboard end of the conduit (2) to the end of the harness (4) identified 28QJ.
(2)
Get access through the opening 550CB(650CB) and use the cord to pull the harness (4) inboard through the conduit (2).

(3)
Release the harness from the cord and discard the cord.
(4)
Attach the terminals of the harness (4) to the connector screws (1) of the sensor 28QJ1(28QJ2). Tighten the connector screws (1).
(5)
Put the harness (4) into the sensor clamp and tighten the clamp screw (5).
(6)
Apply a thin layer of BONDING AND ADHESIVE COMPOUNDS (Material No. 08-013) to the thread of the connector (7).
(7)
Put the connector (7) in position in the hole in RIB26.
(8)
Get access through the opening 560AB(660AB) and put the washer (9) and the nut (10) on the connector (7).
(9)
TORQUE the nut (10) to between 0.32 and 0.34 m.daN (28.31 and 30.08 lbf.in)
(10)
Use a MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003) to remove unwanted adhesive from the connector (7) and the nut (10).
(11)
Put the harness (4) in the routing shown
(Ref. Fig. 401/TASK 28-46-43-991-002)
and attach it with the new cable tie (6).
(12)
Apply a bead of SEALANTS (Material No. 09-002) around the flange of the connector (7) at the interface with RIB26.
(13)
Get access through the opening 550CB(650CB) and attach the harness
(4) with the new cable ties (3).
(14)
Get access through the opening 560AB(660AB) and remove the protective caps from the electrical connectors. Connect the bayonet electrical connector (11) to the connector (7).

C. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit
breaker(s): R 1QP, 2QP, 43QJ, 44QJ.

D. Functional Test
(1) Do the level-sensing functional (BITE) test. (Ref. TASK 28-46-00-740-001)
