% 3. Operation
% A pre-loaded spring (return spring) turns the propeller blades towards fine pitch. In addition, when the % propeller is turning, centrifugal twisting moments also cause the blades to turn towards fine pitch. % Hydraulic pressure in the cylinder acts on a piston and the piston moves the blades towards coarse % pitch.
% The propeller pitch control system is integrated into the engine. The pitch is controlled automatically % by the ECU. Depending on the power setting the propeller pitch is adjusted so that the required RPM % will be obtained as shown in Figure 2.
% If the hydraulic pressure from the governor fails, the blades turn towards fine pitch. An adjustable fine % pitch stop limits the amount of blade movement towards fine pitch. The fine-pitch-stop is adjusted to % give maximum static RPM. If the governor fails during flight it is possible to over-speed the propeller. % Refer to Section 05-50 for data on over-speeds.
