Trouble Possible Cause Repair
Error message on GPS receiver. Internal error. Refer to GPS manufacturer's documentation.
GPS does not operate. GPS circuit-breaker not set. Faulty GPS receiver. Faulty cables/connectors. Set the GPS circuit-breaker. Repair or replace the GPS receiver. Do a test for continuity on each cable. Do a test for short circuit to ground and between cables. Replace defective cables.
GPS unable to acquire satellites. Faulty GPS receiver. Faulty GPS antenna. Faulty connection between GPS antenna and GPS receiver. Repair or replace the GPS receiver. Do a test for correct impedance of the antenna. If necessary, repair or replace the antenna. Ensure proper cable connections. Do a test for correct impedance of the antenna co-axial cable. Do a test for continuity on each cable. Do a test for short circuit to ground and between cables. Replace defective cables.
GPS annunciation control unit does not operate. Faulty GPS annunciation control unit. Faulty cables/connectors. Repair or replace the GPS annunciation control unit. Do a test for continuity on each cable. Do a test for short circuit to ground and between cables. Replace defective cables.

Do a test for short circuit to ground and between cables. Replace defective cables.
No correct NAV information on HSI. GPS annunciation control unit switched to GPS. Faulty GPS annunciation control unit. Faulty HSI. Faulty cables/connectors. Switch GPS annunciation control unit to NAV. Repair or replace the GPS annunciation control unit. Repair or replace the HSI. Do a test for continuity on each cable. Do a test for short circuit to ground and between cables. Replace defective cables.
