While holding test switch, press captain's or first officer's instrument warning panel face. Check that warning lights dim.


(2)  
Test Compass Warning

(a)  
Place flight director mode selector in VOR/LOC position and set radio-omega switch to RADIO. Slew captain's HSI compass card in an increasing direction to a heading 6 士2 degrees higher than first officer's. Check that HDG lights come on in less than 10 seconds.

(b)  
Repeat step (a) slewing first officer's HSI heading card.

(c)  
Resynchronize both compass systems.

(d)  
Tilt vertical gyros 20 degrees in right roll. Repeat steps (a) thru (c) using 10 士2.5 degrees offsets in captain's and first officer's HSI headings.

(e)  
Repeat step (d) for 20 degrees left roll.

(f)  
Level vertical gyros. Place flight director mode selector to MAN GS and repeat steps

(a) thru (c). Check that difference in captain's and first officer's HSI headings is 4.5 士1 degrees.

(g)  
Place flight director mode selector in VOR/LOC position.

 

(3)  
Test Pitch Warning

(a)
Tilt No. 1 vertical gyro 2 degrees nose up and No. 2 vertical gyro 2.0 士1.6 degrees nose down. Check that PITCH lights on instrument warning panels come on.

(b)  
Tilt No. 1 vertical gyro 10 degrees nose up. Tilt No. 2 vertical gyro 6.0 士1.6 degrees nose up. Check that PITCH lights come on.

(c)  
Tilt No. 2 vertical gyro 14士1.6 degrees nose up. Check that PITCH lights come on.

(d)  
Repeat steps (b) and (c) for nose down.

(e)  
Place flight director mode selector in MAN GS position. Keep No. 2 vertical gyro level and tilt No. 1 vertical gyro 3士1 degrees nose up. Check that PITCH lights come on.

(f)  
Repeat step (e) for nose down.

(g)  
Repeat steps (e) and (f) with No. 1 vertical gyro level and tilting No. 2 vertical gyro.

(h)  
Place flight director mode selector in VOR/LOC position.

 

(4)  
Test Roll Warning

(a)  
Tilt No. 1 vertical gyro 2 degrees in right roll and No. 2 vertical gyro in 2.0士1.6 degrees right roll. Check that ROLL lights on instrument warning panels come on.

(b)  
Tilt No. 1 vertical gyro 20 degrees right roll. Tilt No. 2 vertical gyro 16士1.6 degrees right roll. Check that ROLL lights come on.

(c)  
Tilt No. 2 vertical gyro 24士1.6 degrees right roll. Check that ROLL lights come on.

(d)  
Repeat steps (b) and (c) for left roll.

(e)  
Place flight director mode selector in MAN GS position. Keep No. 2 vertical gyro level and tilt No. 1 vertical gyro 3士1 degrees right roll. Check that ROLL lights come on.

Repeat step (e) for left roll.

(g)  
Repeat step (e) and (f) keeping No. 1 vertical gyro level and tilting No. 2 vertical gyro.

(h)  
Place flight director mode selector on VOR/LOC position.

(i) 
 Level vertical gyros.


(5)  
Test LOC Warning

(a)  
Prepare the two signal generators by setting generators to different localizer frequencies, one for each NAV receiver.

(b)  
Set VOR/ILS 1 and 2 on corresponding localizer frequencies. Captain's and first officer's HSI deviation bars should be centered. Check that LOC lights on instrument warning panels are out.

(c)  
Apply a localizer test signal to VOR/ILS 1 receiver such that captain's HSI deviation bar indicates that airplane is 1/4 dot right. Apply localizer test signal to VOR/ILS 2 receiver such that first officer's HSI deviation bar is between 1/4 and 1/2 dot left. Check that LOC lights come on.

(d)  
Repeat step (c) interchanging VOR/ILS 1 and 2 test signals and captain's and first officer's HSI indications.

 

(6)  
Test Glide Slope (GS) Warning

(a)  
Place VHF NAV transfer switch in NORMAL position. With VOR/ILS l and 2 receivers still on localizer frequencies, apply a signal to both glide slope receivers for a 2-dot fly-up indication on captain's and first officer's HSI's. Check that GS lights on instrument warning panels do not come on.

(b)  
Reduce fly-up signal to VOR/ILS 1 receiver to 1-dot. Check that GS lights come on.

(c)  
Repeat steps (a) and (b) except reduce fly-up signal to l-dot for VOR/ILS 2 receiver instead of VOR/ILS 1 receiver in step (b).
