WEATHER RADAR ANTENNA - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
EFFECTIVITY
Airplanes with Collins WXR-700X Weather Radar
1. General
WARNING: BE SURE POWER IS OFF AND ALL WEATHER RADAR CIRCUIT BREAKERS ARE OPEN ON CIRCUIT BREAKER PANEL P6. OPERATION OF RADAR EQUIPMENT INVOLVES THE USE OF HIGH VOLTAGES THAT ARE DANGEROUS TO LIFE.
MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL MUST OBSERVE ALL SAFETY REGULATIONS AT ALL TIMES.
2. Remove Weather Radar Antenna
A. Open nose radome (Ref Chapter 53, Nose Radome).
B. Disconnect weather radar antenna electrical connector (Fig. 401).
C. Disconnect waveguide section from antenna waveguide input port by removing one screw from each corner of waveguide flange. Collect four washers, and one O-ring gasket from waveguide flange.
D. Remove four antenna mounting bolts. Collect a washer from each bolt. If shims are installed between antenna mount base and bulkhead fastener, make certain that same shims are reinstalled when antenna is installed.
NOTE: Antenna reflector must be handled with care so that no undue pressure is exerted which will bend the reflector and cause distortion of the transmitted beam. If antenna is not to be replaced or reinstalled immediately, waveguide and connector must be protected from dirt, debris and moisture.
3. Install Weather Radar Antenna
A. Remove protective covers from waveguide and connector, if installed. Make certain that shims (if any) are in place (Ref par. 2.D. above).
B. Place antenna unit into place and install four mounting bolts and washers (Fig. 401).
C. Connect weather radar antenna electrical connector.
D. Make certain that O-ring gasket is installed in flange recess, then connect waveguide to antenna with a washer and screw at each corner of waveguide flange.
E. Perform weather radar system tests as required (Ref 34-41-0 A/T).
F. Close radome and fasten securely.

WEATHER RADAR WAVEGUIDE - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
EFFECTIVITY
Airplanes with Sperry Primus 90 Weather Radar
1. General
A. The waveguide transmission line consists of rigid and flexible waveguide sections. See Fig. 401 for section identification.
WARNING: BE SURE "OFF" MODE IS SELECTED ON WEATHER RADAR INDICATOR AND ALL WEATHER RADAR CIRCUIT BREAKERS ARE OPEN AND TAGGED "DO NOT OPERATE" ON CIRCUIT BREAKER PANEL P18. OPERATION OF RADAR EQUIPMENT INVOLVES THE USE OF HIGH VOLTAGES THAT ARE DANGEROUS TO LIFE.
MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL MUST OBSERVE ALL SAFETY REGULATIONS AT ALL TIMES.
B. Make certain that waveguide and flanges are not distorted, flanges are clean, and inside bore of waveguide sections are free of moisture and debris when a section is reinstalled.
2. Prepare to Remove Waveguide
A. Open nose radome (Ref Chapter 53, Nose Radome).
B. Open forward access door No. 1103 and gain access to waveguide sections forward of receiver-transmitter (R/T) unit.
C. Remove weather radar R/T unit.
3. Remove Waveguide
A. Disconnect section 1 by removing four screws from the waveguide flange at the antenna waveguide input port.
B. Remove four screws from waveguide flange between sections 1 and 2.
C. From radome compartment remove eight coupling screws on section 1 pressure seal flange on bulkhead. Collect gaskets in flanges at either end of section 1, then carefully remove section 1 with pressure seal gasket forward through the hole in bulkhead.
D. Remove four screws connecting section 2 to waveguide switch. Remove section 2 and gasket in waveguide flange.
E. Remove four screws connecting section 3 to forward end of R/T mounting frame, and remove four screws connecting section 3 to waveguide switch. Collect waveguide flange gaskets at either end of section and remove section.
F. Remove waveguide switch and dummy load only. Remove four screws from flanges in sections 2 and 3 at waveguide switch unless already accomplished. Disconnect electrical connector on waveguide switch.
G. Remove four screws and lockwashers securing waveguide switch to support. Remove waveguide switch and dummy load. Dummy load attaches to switch with four screws.
