(k)
Tune No. 1 VOR/ILS system to 108.05 MHz. Check that captain's HSI NAV flag appears.
(l)
Tune No. 1 VOR/ILS system to 108.00 MHz. Check that captain's HSI NAV flag disappears.
(m)
Repeat steps (a) thru (l) using No. 2 VOR/ILS system. Observe VOR RDDMI wide pointers and first officer's ADI and HSI.
(5)
Test Heading Input Function
(a)
Rotate first officer's RDDMI compass card using sync knob for compass system No. 1. Check that both pilots' RDDMI narrow pointers follow compass No. 1 heading change.
(b)
Rotate captain's RDDMI compass card using sync knob for compass system No. 2. Check that both pilots' RDDMI wide pointers follow compass No. 2 heading change.
(c)
Position COMPASS transfer switch to BOTH ON 1.
(d)
Operate compass system No. 1 sync knob. Check that compass cards and narrow and wide pointers in both pilots' RDDMI's follow compass No. 1 heading change.
(e)
Position COMPASS transfer switch to BOTH ON 2.
(f)
Operate compass system No. 2 sync knob. Check that compass cards and narrow and wide pointers in both pilots' VOR RDDMI's follow compass No. 2 heading change.
(g)
Position COMPASS transfer switch to NORM.
(6)
Test VOR Localizer Antenna Switching Function
(a)
Position VHF NAV transfer switch to NORMAL.
(b)
Open VOR/LOC-2 circuit breaker on panel P6.
(c)
Test VOR (Tail) Antenna 1) Tune No. 1 VOR/ILS system to 108.00 MHz. Check that captain's HSI NAV flag

is in view. 2) Position test set under airplane nose and set up to operate on VOR frequency of
108.00 MHz.
3) Adjust test set attenuator control to set captain's HSI NAV flag to threshold (level just prior to flag retraction).
NOTE: If threshold cannot be obtained, verify that captain's HSI NAV flag is in view.
4) Without altering test settings, move test set under airplane tail. Verify that captain's HSI NAV flag retracts from view.
(d) Test Localizer (Nose) Antenna
1) Tune No. 1 VOR/ILS system to 108.10 MHz. Check that captain's HSI NAV flag appears.
WARNING: DO NOT ENGAGE AUTOPILOT A OR B.
2) On AFCS control panel, position both F/D switches to ON and select APP Mode. Check for white or green VOR/LOC annunciation on -F/D & A/P-approach progress display.
3) Operate test set on localizer frequency of 108.10 MHz.

4) Adjust test set attenuator control to set captain's HSI NAV flag to threshold, see NOTE following step (6)(c)3) above.
5) Without altering test settings, move test set under airplane nose. Verify that captain's HSI NAV flag retracts from view.
(e)
Open VOR/LOC-1 circuit breaker on panel P18.
(f)
Close VOR/LOC-2 circuit breaker on panel P6.
(g)
Repeat steps (6)(c) and (6)(d) using No. 2 VOR/ILS system and first officer's HSI. Verify that results are same as for testing system No. 1.
(h)
Close VOR/LOC-1 circuit breaker on panel P18.
(7)
Test LOC Function
(a)
Set signal generator for maximum on course localizer output at 108.10 MHz.
(b)
Tune No. 1 VOR/ILS system to 108.1 MHz. Check that VOR RDDMI narrow pointers stow at 3 o'clock and that ADI and HSI glide slope flags are in view.
(c)
Rotate captain's course selector to position HSI course arrow in line with indicator lubber line. Check that captain's HSI course deviation bar and ADI runway symbol are centered and that HSI NAV and ADI RUNWAY flags are out of view.
(d)
Set signal generator for fly-left indication. Check that HSI course deviation bar and ADI runway symbol deflect left.
(e)
Repeat above step for fly-right indication.
(f)
Repeat steps (b) thru (e) using No. 2 VOR/ILS system. Observe VOR RDDMI wide pointers and first officer's ADI and HSI.
(8)
Test GS Function
(a)
Place signal generator approximately 50 feet from glide slope antenna.
(b)
Tune No. 1 VOR/ILS system to 108.1 MHz and signal generator to 108.1-334.7 MHz. Check that captain's ADI and HSI GS flags and pointers appear.
