3. Install Waveguide
A. Remove protective covers from waveguide sections, if installed.
B. Check all waveguide sections for any damage moisture or debris.
C. Check all removed gaskets for any damage and replace as necessary.
D. Check pressure seal on section 1 for damage or lost gasket and replace as necessary.
E. Slide section 1 through hole in radome bulkhead and place in near final position with pressure seal gasket installed.
NOTE: When a waveguide section is reinstalled, make certain that the choke flange end is always mated with the cover flange end of the mated section. Otherwise, a significant increase in VSWR may result.
F. Install eight screws loosely on section 1 pressure seal to bulkhead.
G. Secure section 1 waveguide to antenna with waveguide quick disconnect.
H. Place section 2 in position and align with section 1 and receiver-transmitter. Make certain that waveguide gaskets are installed.
I. Connect section 2 to section 1 and receiver-transmitter loosely with four screws, lockwashers and one gasket each place.
J. Install clamp below antenna and secure to support bracket with one screw. Adjust support bracket and clamp as required.
K. Tighten screws in pressure seal. Take up tolerances to attain as near a non-tress waveguide installation as possible by moving clamp and support, pressure seal flange or R/T mount tray as required.
L. Install R/T unit and check proper mating of waveguide flanges.
M. Make certain that screws in all flanges, the pressure seal flange, support bracket and clamp, and R/T mount tray are tightened firmly.
4. Test Weather Radar Waveguide Installation
NOTE: Presence of a normal test pattern indicates a properly installed waveguide system. Absence of a FAIL message or LRU fault messages indicate properly installed waveguide system.
A. Perform self test section of Weather Radar Operational Test (Ref 34-41-02).
5. Restore Airplane to Normal
A. Close nose radome and forward access door (1103).

WEATHER RADAR RECEIVER-TRANSMITTER - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. General
A. The weather radar receiver-transmitter is located in the forward nose compartment. Access is gained through the lower nose compartment access door.
WARNING: DO NOT OPERATE WEATHER RADAR WHILE AIRPLANE IS BEING REFUELED OR DEFUELED AND DO NOT OPERATE IN ANY RADIATING MODE WHILE A FUELING OPERATION IS BEING CONDUCTED WITHIN 300 FEED OF THE ANTENNA OR AN EXPLOSION MAY OCCUR.
PERSONNEL MUST NOT ENTER AN AREA CLOSER THAN 50 FEET IN FRONT OF A RADIATING ANTENNA OR INJURY TO PERSONNEL MAY OCCUR.
CAUTION: WHEN WEATHER RADAR IS OPERATED IN ANY MODE OTHER THAN STANDBY OR TEST, DIRECT NOSE OF THE AIRPLANE SO FORWARD 180-DEGREE SECTOR IS FREE OF LARGE METALLIC OBJECTS (HANGARS, TRUCKS, OTHER AIRPLANES, ETC.) FOR A DISTANCE OF 300 FEET AND TILT ANTENNA UPWARD 15 DEGREES OR DAMAGE MAY OCCUR.
2. Remove Receiver Transmitter - Sperry Primus 90
A. Open WEATHER RADAR AC and DC circuit breakers on P18-1 circuit breaker panel, and tag with DO-NOT-OPERATE identifiers.
B. Release and lower the lever latch handles on R/T.
C. Pull R/T unit forward and out of shockmount.
NOTE: If receiver-transmitter is not to be replaced or reinstalled immediately, place protective covers over waveguide and electrical connectors to protect from dirt, debris, and moisture.
3. Remove Receiver Transmitter - Collins WXR-700X
A. Open WEATHER RADAR AC circuit breakers on P18-1 circuit breaker panel, and tag with DO-NOT-OPERATE identifiers.
B. Loosen knurled nuts and allow bolts to swing down.
C. Pull R/T unit forward and out of shockmount.
NOTE: If receiver-transmitter is not to be replaced or reinstalled immediately, place protective covers over waveguide and electrical connectors to protect from dirt, debris, and moisture.
