(f)
Close VOR No. 1 circuit breaker. Check that both HSI VOR/LOC flags disappear from view.

(g)
Position VHF NAV transfer switch to BOTH ON 2.

(h)
Open VOR No. 2 circuit breaker. Check that both HSI VOR/LOC flag appears.

(i)
Close VOR No. 2 circuit breaker.

(3)
Test VOR/ILS Transfer Switching Function

(a)
Position VHF NAV transfer switch to BOTH ON 1 and repeat VOR/ILS self-test of par. C.(1) for No. 1 VOR/ILS system. Check that captain's and first officer's self-test displays are the same.

(b)
Position VHF NAV transfer switch to BOTH ON 2 and repeat VOR/ILS system self-test of par. C.(1) for No. 2 VOR/ILS system. Check that captain's and first officer's self-test displays are the same.

(c)
Position VHF NAV transfer switch to NORMAL.

(4)
Test Pre-Selected Frequencies Function (GJ ALL EXCEPT B-2504 and B-2505)

(a)
Position signal generator approximately 75 feet from VOR antenna and operate on VOR frequency with audio modulation of 1020 Hz.

(b)
Position audio selector panel VOR switches to ON.

(c)
Select 4 different VOR frequencies using frequency controls on captain's and first officer's VHF NAV control panels.

(d)
Tune signal generator to each of the 4 VOR frequencies and operate the VHF NAV control panel frequency TFR switches in turn. Check that 1020 Hz audio tone is available when signal generator is operating at each of the frequencies selected by the TFR switches.

(a)  Operate signal generator to supply a 0-degree omniradial (180-degree omni bearing) test signal on 108.0 MHz with audio modulation of 1020 Hz.
NOTE:  The Collins 972Q-4 test set provides a radial bearing signal that is the reciprocal of airplane selected course.
A radial specifically means the signal as it exists along a line in a magnetic direction from the station as specified by the number of the radial. (For example, 0-degree radial is north of the station, and 90-degree radial is east of the station.)
(b)
Check that audio tone is not available when signal generator and receiver are at different frequencies.

(c)
Check that compass system indicates a heading of zero degrees.

(d)
Tune No. 1 VOR/ILS system to 108.0 MHz. Check that VOR RMI narrow pointers indicate a magnetic bearing of 180 +3 degrees and that ADI and HSI glide slope flags and pointers are out of view.

(e)
Turn captain's course selector knob until HSI course deviation bar is centered. Check that captain's HSI course counter indicates 000 +2 degrees and that course deviation bar is parallel to VOR RMI narrow pointers.

(f)
Rotate captain's course selector until course deviation bar is over second left dot. Check that course counter indicates 350 +4 degrees.

(g)
Rotate captain's course selector until course deviation bar is over second right dot. Check that course counter indicates 010 +4 degrees.

(h)
Rotate captain's course selector until course counter indicates 000 degrees.

(i)
Set signal generator to transmit 315-degree radial (135-degree bearing). Check that VOR RMI narrow pointers indicate a magnetic bearing of 135 +3 degrees and that captain's HSI course deviation bar is deflected full-scale right and FROM flag comes into view.

(j)
Repeat step (i) for left deflection using 45-degree test radial (225-degree bearing). Check that VOR RMI narrow pointers indicate 225 +3 degrees and that captain's HSI course deviation bar deflects full scale left.

(k)
Tune No. 1 VOR/ILS system to 108.05 MHz. Check that captain's HSI VOR/LOC flag appears.

(l)
Tune No. 1 VOR/ILS system to 108.00 MHz. Check that captain's HSI VOR/LOC flag disappears.

(m) Repeat steps (a) thru (l) using No. 2 VOR/GS system. Observe VOR RMI wide pointers and first officer's ADI and HSI.

(6)
Test LOC Function

(a)
Set signal generator for maximum on course localizer output at 108.10 MHz.

(b)
Tune No. 1 VOR/GS system to 108.1 MHz. Check that VOR RMI narrow pointers stow at 3 o'clock and that ADI and HSI glide slope flags and scale are in view.

(c)
Rotate captain's course selector to position HSI course arrow in line with indicator lubber line. Check that captain's HSI course deviation bar and ADI localizer pointer or runway symbol are centered and that HSI VOR/LOC flag and ADI localizer shutter or RUNWAY flag are out of view.
