LOCALIZER ANTENNA - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
EFFECTIVITY

AS Airplanes incorporating SB 34-1139 SA ALL EXCEPT ZS-SBL THRU ZS-SBR WA ALL EXCEPT N4502W thru N4530W, N4596N and N4571M GJ B-2509 and B-2510
1.  General
A.  The localizer antenna is located in the nose radome and has provisions for connecting two coaxial cables (Fig. 401).
2.  Equipment and Materials
A.  Bonding Meter (Ref 20-22-01)
3.  Remove Localizer Antenna
WARNING:  CHECK THAT POWER IS OFF ON WEATHER RADAR AND ANTENNA IS NOT SCANNING TO AVOID CONTACT WITH HIGH-FREQUENCY RADAR SIGNALS OR PHYSICAL CONTACT WITH SCANNING ANTENNA.
A.  Open nose radome (Ref Chapter 53, Nose Radome).
B.  Disconnect coaxial cables.
C.  Remove mounting screws and lower antenna.
NOTE:  Handle antenna with care. If antenna is not to be replaced immediately, connectors must be protected from foreign material.
4.  Install Localizer Antenna
A.  Position antenna to support and install mounting screws.
B.  Connect coaxial cables to antenna, hand-tighten and safety-wire as required.
C.  Check electrical bond between antenna and airplane structure per 20-22-01. Resistance should not exceed 0.01 ohm.
D.  Test antenna for satisfactory operation by performing "Prepare to Test System," "Test LOC Function," and "Test VOR-Localizer Antenna Switching Function" portions of VOR/ILS navigation system adjustment/test procedure (Ref 34-31-0 A/T).
E.  Close nose radome and fasten securely.
F.  Remove airplane electrical power if no longer required.

NAVIGATION UNIT - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. General
A.  The navigation units are installed in electronics equipment rack E3-4. Each unit is held in place by two retaining knobs.
2.  Remove Navigation Unit
A.  Open circuit breakers on electronic load control center circuit breaker panels P6 and P18 as follows:

B.  Loosen and disengage retaining knobs securing navigation units to rack and withdraw unit from rack.
3.  Install Navigation Unit
A.  Position navigation unit in rack and secure retaining knobs.
B.  Close circuit breakers opened in par. 2.A. above.
C.  Test navigation unit for satisfactory operation as follows:
(1)  
Provide electrical power and energize P6 and P18 load control centers.

(2)  
Position flight director mode selector to HDG.

(3)  
Energize flight interphone system and VOR/ILS navigation system.

(4)  
Tune VOR/ILS navigation system to local VOR station and listen for identification code on flight interphone.

(5)  
Turn off flight interphone and VOR/ILS navigation systems.

(6)  
Remove electrical power if no longer required.

VHF NAV CONTROL PANEL - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. General
A.  The VOR/ILS control panels are located on aft electronics panel P8. Each panel is held in place by four fasteners.
2.  Remove Control Panel
A.  Open circuit breakers on electronic load control center circuit breaker panels P6 and P18 as follows:

B.  Loosen fasteners securing panel to mounting.
C.  Withdraw panel from mounting and disconnect electrical connector(s).
3.  Install Control Panel
A.  Connect electrical connector(s) to control panel.
B.  Secure control panel to mounting.
C.  Provide electrical power.
D.  Close circuit breaker opened in par. 2.A. above and check that panel lights are on.
NOTE: The flight deck panel lights control must be on bright.
E.  Remove electrical power if no longer required.
