4. Install Light Assembly (Fig. 201)
A. Press in on latch levers and push light assembly into place, engaging latch lever pins in holes in mounting plate.
CAUTION: CHECK THAT ALL FOUR PINS ARE POSITIVELY AND FULLY ENGAGED.
B. Push plastic cover over nylon rollers on spring clips on light assembly.
CAUTION: COVER MUST BE CENTERED. IF IT TIPS OUTBOARD AT EITHER END, IT WILL RELEASE THE LATCH LEVERS WITH RISK OF THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY FALLING.
C. Close emergency exit light circuit breakers opened in step 2.B.
D. Return switch to its original position.
5. Test Light Assembly
A. Momentarily set emergency light switch on either pilots' overhead panel or attendant's panel to ON, then return switch to original setting. Check that emergency light comes on and goes off.
CAUTION: RETURN SWITCH TO OFF POSITION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO CONSERVE BATTERIES.
6. Check Light Installation (Fig. 201)
A. Provide electrical power.
B. Remove portable light from mounting plate per par. 2.
C. Close circuit breakers opened in step B.
D. Set switch to ARMED.
E. Check voltage between sockets 1 and 5 (ground) of portable light receptacle on mounting plate.
(1) Voltage should be 27 +2 volts dc (no load).
NOTE: A discharged battery pack can cause a low voltage. It is OK to disconnect the battery pack for this test.
F. Actuate switch on light assembly. If lamps do not light or are dim, replace light assembly.
G. Open circuit breakers closed in step C.
H. Install portable light assembly, replace cover, and check operation per par. 4 and 5.

ELECTRICALLY ILLUMINATED EXIT SIGNS - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES

1. General
A. The following procedures provide steps for relamping, removing, installing and testing the electrically illuminated exit signs.
2. Relamp Exit Sign (Fig. 201)
A. Verify that the EMER EXIT LIGHTS switch on P5 overhead panel is in OFF.
B. Lift guard on EMER EXIT switch on P14 aft attendant's panel and position switch to ON.
C. Identify exit or exit locator sign(s) to be relamped.
(1) Position EMER EXIT switch on P14 aft attendant's panel to NORM and lower guard. Assure all electrically operated EXIT sign have gone out.
D. Remove lens.
(1)
For exit signs, over doors 1 and 2 and emergency exit, grasp lens and pull to remove.
(2)
For exit locator signs, press release buttons and pull lens downward or insert screwdriver into release holes, release clips, and pull lens downward.
E. Replace lamp(s).
F. Press lens into place until firmly seated.
G. Test exit sign.
3. Remove Exit Sign (Fig. 201)
A. Remove lens.
(1)
For exit signs over doors 1 and 2 and emergency exit, grasp lens and pull to remove.
(2)
For exit locator signs, press release buttons and pull lens downward or insert screwdriver into release holes, release clips, and pull lens downward.
(3)
To remove the class divider sign, grasp lens and pull.
B. Remove sign mounting fasteners.
(1)
For exit signs over doors 1 and 2 and emergency exit, remove screws and washers.
(2)
For exit locator signs, remove screws and brackets.
NOTE: Loosen mounting screws (4 places) and move two screws, on one side, inboard to release brackets.
(3)
For class divider exit sign, remove nuts and washers.
C. Disconnect electrical connector(s).
D. Remove sign assembly.
4. Install Exit Sign (Fig. 201)
A. Connect electrical connector(s) and install sign assembly with mounting fasteners.
B. Install lens.
C. Test exit sign.
