EFFECTIVITY
ATI INTERIOR
1. General
A.  Passenger compartment illumination consists of 3 separate lighting systems: ceiling lights, night lights, and sidewall lights. Ceiling lights are fluorescent tubes mounted on the outboard edge of each sculptured ceiling panel. Night lights are incandescent lights mounted on one end of ceiling lights housing. Sidewall lights are fluorescent tubes mounted in each sculptured sidewall panel. Lights are installed throughout the length of the passenger cabin. Relays and transformers for these lights are on the J5 and J10 shields in the E/E compartment area.
2.  Ceiling Lights (Fig. 1)
A.  Ceiling lights are fluorescent tubes mounted on the outboard edge of each sculptured ceiling panel. The ceiling lights ballasts are mounted to selected light assemblies. The ceiling lights provide indirect illumination throughout the length of the passenger cabin.
B.  115v ac power is supplied through circuit breakers on the P18-3 panel.
C.  Two transformers on the J10 shield step-up 115v ac to 280v ac which is connected to the ballasts. All ceiling lights are controlled with application of 28v ac by a rotating CEILING switch on P13 forward attendant's panel. Rotating the ceiling switch to the DIM position energizes the control relay applying 280v ac to all ceiling lights ballasts. Rotating the CEILING switch to the BRT position provides an additional 115v ac to all ceiling light ballasts causing the ceiling lights to illuminate with full brightness throughout the passenger cabin. The first 2 positions of the CEILING switch do not operate the fluorescent ceiling lights.
D.  Ceiling lights are easily relamped by reaching around the reflector and pressing the PUSH button which locks the tube in position at one end.
3.  Night Lights (Fig. 1)
A.  Night lights are incandescent lamps mounted on one end of selected ceiling lights housing. They provide soft low level illumination throughout the passenger cabin. 28v ac power is supplied through circuit breakers on the P18-3 panel.
B.  Night lights are operated by placing the rotary CEILING switch on P13 forward attendant panel to the NIGHT position. The other 3 positions of the CEILING switch do not operate the incandescent night lights.

C.  Night lights are easily accessed by reaching directly above the ceiling panel between the fluorescent tubes. The lamp is released by pressing the miniature bayonet mount incandescent lamp down then rotating it a quarter turn.
4.  Sidwall Lights (Fig. 2)
A.  Sidewall lights are fluorescent tubes mounted in each sculptured sidewall panel above the windows. The sidewall lights dual ballasts are located on every second light. The lights provide direct illumination of the sidewall panels throughout the length of the passenger cabin.
B.  Power is supplied by the 115v ac ground service bus through circuit breakers on the P18-3 panel. The sidewall lights are power from the 115v ac main or ground service buses.
C.  Two transformers on the J5 shield step-up 115v ac to 280v ac which is connected to ballasts. Sidewall lights are controlled with application of 115v ac by the WINDOW switch on P13 forward attendant's panel. Placing the WINDOW switch to the DIM position applies 280v ac to all sidewall light ballasts causing all sidewall lights to illuminate dim. Placing the WINDOW switch to BRT applies an additional 115v ac to all sidewall light ballasts causing the fluorescent lamps to illuminate brighter.
