2.  Remove Ceiling-Mounted Exit Sign
A.  Place emergency exit light switch, that is located on pilot's overhead panel, to OFF position.
B.  Remove the shroud assembly, including the lens and reflector assembly, by releasing two 1/4 turn studs, accessible through the holes in the bottom of the shroud assembly (Fig. 401 Detail B).
NOTE:  Optional studs may be installed requiring either a No. 1 Phillips or 1/8 inch wide blade type screwdriver.
C.  Disconnect the electrical connector on the shroud assembly from airplane wiring.
D.  Loosen the bolt on the clamp which attaches the support assembly to the air distribution channel and remove support assembly.
3.  Install Ceiling-Mounted Exit Sign
A.  Position support assembly on the air distribution channel and tighten clamping bolt.
B.  Connect electrical connector from the shroud assembly to airplane wiring.
C.  Position shroud assembly on the support assembly and engage the two 1/4 turn studs.
D.  Return emergency exit light switch to original position.
4.  Test Ceiling-Mounted Exit Sign
A.  Provide electrical power.
B.  Momentarily set emergency light switch on either pilot's overhead or aft attendant's panel to ON, then return switch to original position. Check that lamps on both sides of exit sign come on and go off.
C.  Remove electrical power if no longer required.

CEILING-MOUNTED EXIT SIGN - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES
EFFECTIVITY
Passenger/Cargo Convertible Airplanes
1.  General (Fig. 201)
A.  The hinged ceiling-mounted exit signs are powered by a battery pack located above and inboard of the exit signs. Each sign is hinged on its upper surface and opens for relamping or replacement.
2.  Relamp Sign (Fig. 201)
A.  Place emergency light switch on pilots' overhead panel to OFF.
B.  Insert a 5/64-inch hex key (Allen wrench or equivalent) in each of two small holes in lower edge of sign and release fasteners.
C.  Rotate sign (legend-half) upward exposing lamp retaining screws.
D.  Replace lamps.
E.  Rotate sign (legend-half) downward and secure fasteners.
F.  Restore switch on pilots' panel to original position if required.
3.  Remove Sign (Fig. 201)
A.  Place emergency light switch on pilots' overhead panel to OFF.
B.  Insert 5/64-inch hex key (Allen wrench or equivalent) in each of two small holes in lower edge of sign and release fasteners.
C.  Rotate sign (legend-half) upward exposing two mounting screws.
D.  Remove two mounting screws and pull sign away from installation for access to electrical terminals on back of sign.
CAUTION: SUPPORT SIGN TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO ELECTRICAL WIRING.
E.  Disconnect electrical wires from rear of sign and remove sign.

PORTABLE EMERGENCY EXIT LIGHT - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES
EFFECTIVITY
ALL EXCEPT ATI INTERIOR
1. General (Fig. 201)
A.  Portable emergency lights that may be removed from their mountings and used as a flashlight are installed over the control cabin, entry and galley doors. They also may be installed over each emergency escape hatch. When installing the light, the control switch should be turned to the ARMED position. If the lamps are illuminated with the switch in the ARMED position, turn the control switch to ON and then back to the ARMED position.
B.  The portable light assembly will come on and discharge its batteries if removed from mounting plate with pilot's emergency light switch set to ARMED. If emergency light comes on when removed from mounting plate, set switch on light assembly to ON then to ARM. Light will go off.
2.  Remove Light Assembly (Fig. 201)
A.  Turn off emergency lights switch on pilots' overhead panel and tag switch.
B.  Open emergency light POWER and CONTROL circuit breakers on P18-3 panel.
C.  Pull plastic cover out of engagement.
D.  Press in on latch levers and pull light assembly to remove.
3.  Replace Batteries (Fig. 201)
A.  Remove two screws and remove back cover from light assembly.
