LAVATORY LIGHTS - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES
EFFECTIVITY

1. General
A. The following procedures provide steps for relamping and testing.
2. Relamp Lavatory Lights
A. Apply electrical power (24-22-0, MP).
B. Identify lamp(s) to be replaced.
C. Open following circuit breakers on P18-3 panel:
(1)
28v dc Bat Bus LAVATORY DOME
(2)
115v ac Bus No. 1 LAVATORY MIRROR
D. Open the LAV MIRROR EXT PWR circuit breaker on P6-3 panel.
E. Gain access to lamp(s).
(1)
To gain access to lavatory dome lamp, move the bezel assembly to one side and pull downward.
(2)
To gain access to lavatory mirror lamp(s), move the bezel assembly to one side and pull outward.
F. Replace lamp(s).
WARNING: OBSERVE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN HANDLING FLUORESCENT LAMPS. BROKEN LAMPS MAY CAUSE INJURY.
G. Install bezel or lens assembly.
H. Close circuit breakers on P18-3 panel opened in step 2.C.
I. Test lavatory lights.
3. Test Lavatory Lights
A. Apply electrical power (Ref 24-22-0, MP).
B. Ensure that following circuit breakers on P18-3 panel are closed:
(1)
28v dc Bat Bus LAVATORY DOME
(2)
115v ac Bus No. 1 LAVATORY MIRROR
C. Open LAV MIRROR EXT PWR circuit breaker on P6-3 panel.
D. Verify incandescent dome lamps in all lavatories are on.
E. Enter each lavatory and lock door. Verify fluorescent mirror lamps are on when door is locked.
F. Unlock and open all lavatory doors.
G. Verify that all fluorescent mirror lights are out while door is open.
H. Close and lock all lavatory doors.
I. Verify all blue lavatory occupied lights are illuminated.
J. Unlock and open all lavatory doors.
K. Close LAV MIRROR EXT PWR circuit breaker on the P6-3 panel.
L. Verify the fluorescent mirror lights are on in each lavatory.
M. Remove electrical power if no longer required (Ref 24-22-0, MP).

GALLEY LIGHTS - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

1. General
A. Each galley area is illuminated with fluorescent lights in the ceiling panels. Three-position switches provide off, dim, and bright control of the lights.
B. A galley light switch is located in each galley and controls the lighting for the galley.
2. Galley Lights (Fig. 1)
A. Each cabin galley has a fluorescent area light above the galley work area controlled by a 3-position switch (OFF-DIM-BRT) mounted on the galley control panel to provide two levels of brightness. The galley fluorescent lights are powered by 115v ac from the ground service bus through a circuit breaker on the P18-3 panel.
B. Each cabin galley light has two fluorescent lamps. Each lamp is driven by its own ballast. Operation of all OFF/DIM/BRT switches are the same; 115v ac is applied to one ballast to operate one lamp in the DIM position, and to both ballasts to operate both lamps in the BRT position.

1. General
A. The following procedures provide steps for relamping, ballast replacement, and testing.
2. Relamp Galley Lights
A. Provide electrical power (Ref 24-22-0, MP).
B. Ensure that GALLEY LTS circuit breaker on P18-3 panel are closed.
C. Position applicable galley light switch to BRT and identify faulty lamps.
D. Position galley light switch to OFF.
E. Insert allen wrench into holes of light assembly and rotate one quarter turn. Lower light assembly to full open position and let hang by lanyard.
