PASSENGER SIGNS -MAINTENANCE PRACTICES
EFFECTIVITY
ATI INTERIOR
1. General
A. The following procedures provide steps for relamping and testing the passenger signs.
2. Relamp Return to Seat Signs
A. Provide electrical power (Ref 24-22-0, MP).
B. Place FASTEN BELTS toggle switch to ON position.
C. Identify faulty sign, and place FASTEN BELTS switch to OFF.
D. Open PASS SIGN CONT circuit breaker on P18-3 panel.
E. Open lav utility cabinet door above return-to-seat sign.
F. Gain access to back of sign assembly.
G. Remove two screws and washers on mounting bracket to remove sign assembly.
H. Remove screws on back of housing.
I. Replace lamp.
J. Mount housing on light assembly with screws.
K. Mount sign assembly into position with two screws and washers.
L. Close lav utility cabinet door.
M. Close PASS SIGN CONT circuit breaker on P18-3 panel.
N. Position FASTEN BELTS toggle switch to ON and check that signs come on. Position FASTEN BELTS switch to OFF.
O. Remove electrical power if no longer required (Ref 24-22-0, MP).
3. Relamp No Smoking and Fasten Seat Belt Signs
A. Provide electrical power (Ref 24-22-0, MP).
B. Place NO SMOKING and FASTEN BELTS toggle switches to ON position.
C. Identify faulty sign, and turn signs off.
D. Open PASS SIGN CONT circuit breaker on P18-3 panel.
E. Relamp signs on PSUs.

Lower passenger service unit panel (Ref 25-23-01).
(2)
Gain access to back of sign assembly.
(3)
Release thumb latches on base to unlock lens assembly.
(4)
Separate lens assembly and base.
(5)
Replace lamp.
(6)
Install base on lens assembly.
(7)
Secure thumb latches on base to lock assemblies.
(8)
Raise panel containing sign assembly in position.
F. Close PASS SIGN CONT circuit breakers on P18-3 panel.
G. Position NO SMOKING and FASTEN BELTS switches on P5 overhead panel to ON and check that signs come on. Position switches to OFF.
H. Remove electrical power if no longer required (Ref 24-22-0, MP).

4. Test Passenger Signs
A. Ensure following circuit breakers on P18-3 panel are closed.

NO SMOKING SIGNS
(2)
SEAT BELT SIGNS
(3)
PASSENGER SIGN CONTROL
B. Position NO SMOKING switch and FASTEN BELT switch on P5 overhead panel to ON.
C. Observe that all FASTEN SEAT BELT, NO SMOKING and RETURN TO SEAT signs are illuminated.
D. Position NO SMOKING switch and FASTEN BELT switch on P5 overhead panel to OFF.
E. Observe that all FASTEN SEAT BELT, NO SMOKING and RETURN TO SEAT signs are off.
F. Ensure that all personnel are clear of moveable components in flaps and slats systems.
G. Position trailing edge flaps in the full up position.
H. Ensure that landing gear ground locks are installed.

Move landing gear control handle to OFF position.
(2)
Position NO SMOKING switch and FASTEN BELT switch on the P5 overhead panel to AUTO.
I. Observe that all FASTEN SEAT BELT, NO SMOKING and RETURN TO SEAT signs remain off.
J. Place FLAP Lever on control stand to 2.
K. Observe that all FASTEN SEATBELT signs and RETURN TO SEAT signs are on.
L. Observe that all NO SMOKING signs are off.
M. Place FLAP lever to 0.
N. Observe that all passenger signs are off.
O. Move landing gear control handle to DOWN.
P. Observe that all FASTEN SEAT BELT, NO SMOKING and RETURN TO SEAT signs are on.
Q. Return landing gear control handle to OFF.
R. Observe that all FASTEN SEAT BELT, NO SMOKING and RETURN TO SEAT signs are off.
