B.  The window covering the strobe lights is carefully sealed against possible entry of fuel vapors and should not be removed. A panel on the underside of the wingtip provides access to the lights.
2.  Equipment and Materials
A.  0.032-inch diameter soft brass wire
3.  Remove Wingtip Strobe Light (Fig. 201)
A.  Open POSITION light circuit breakers on P18-3 circuit breaker panel.
B.  Remove access panel on the underside of the wingtip.
C.  Remove electrical connector from light assembly.
D.  Remove four bolts from mounting bracket and pull light assembly clear of airplane.
NOTE:  To facilitate passing light assembly through opening; either remove four fasteners and remove angle bracket from one side of light assembly; or remove three fasteners and loosen fourth on angle bracket and rotate bracket. Reinstall bracket after passing light assembly through opening.
4.  Relamp Wingtip Strobe Light (Fig. 201)
A.  Remove light assembly per par. 3.
B.  Remove four screws retaining lens and remove lens cover.

C.  Remove lockwire from lamp receptacle and remove lamp.
D.  Wrap a clean, soft cloth around replacement lamp and press lamp firmly into receptacle.
CAUTION:  DO NOT ALLOW FINGERS TO COME IN CONTACT WITH LAMP DURING INSTALLATION. SKIN OILS MAY CAUSE LAMP TO DISCOLOR WHEN CURRENT IS APPLIED.
E.  Safety wire lamp in place in receptacle, using two pieces of 0.032-inch diameter soft brass wire.
F.  Clean lens with clean, soft, dry cloth.
G.  Install lens cover with four screws.
H.  Install light assembly per par. 5.
5.  Install Wingtip Strobe Lights (Fig. 201)
A.  Position light assembly on mounting bracket and install four mounting bolts.
NOTE:  To facilitate passing light assembly through opening; either remove four fasteners and remove angle bracket from one side of light assembly; or remove three fasteners and loosen fourth on angle bracket and rotate bracket. Reinstall bracket after passing light assembly through opening.
B.  Reconnect electrical connector to light assembly.
C.  Install access panel.
D.  Close POSITION-STROBE circuit breaker on P18-3 panel.
E.  Test strobe light.
(1) 
 Apply electrical power.

(2)  
Place POSITION light switch to STROBE & STEADY on overhead panel P5. Observe strobe lights flash. Return switch to OFF.

WARNING:  DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY AT LIGHT FROM CLOSE RANGE. LIGHT FLASHES MAY CAUSE TEMPORARY VISION IMPAIRMENT.

Remove electrical power if no longer required.

TAIL STROBE LIGHT - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES
1. General
A. The following procedures provide instructions for relamping and testing the tail strobe light.
WARNING:  HIGH VOLTAGE IS PRESENT AT LAMP TERMINALS. WAIT 5 MINUTES AFTER SYSTEM IS OFF BEFORE RELAMPING.
2.  Equipment and Materials
A.  0.032-inch diameter soft brass wire
3.  Relamp Tail Strobe Light (Fig. 201)
A.  Open POSITION light circuit breakers on P18-3 circuit breaker panel.
B.  Remove six screws retaining lens and remove lens.
C.  Remove lockwire from lamp receptacle and remove lamp.
D.  Wrap a clean, soft cloth around replacement lamp and press lamp firmly into receptacle.
CAUTION:  DO NOT ALLOW FINGERS TO COME IN CONTACT WITH LAMP DURING INSTALLATION. SKIN OILS MAY CAUSE LAMP TO DISCOLOR WHEN CURRENT IS APPLIED.
E.  Safety wire lamp in place in receptacle, using two pieces of 0.032-inch diameter soft brass wire.
F.  Clean lens with clean, soft, dry cloth.
G.  Install lens with six screws.
H.  Close circuit breaker(s) opened in step A.
I.  Test tail strobe light.
(1)  
Provide electrical power.

(2)  
Place POSITION light switch to STROBE & STEADY. Observe strobe lights flash. Return switch to OFF.

WARNING:  DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY AT LIGHT FROM CLOSE RANGE. LIGHT FLASHES MAY CAUSE TEMPORARY VISION IMPAIRMENT.
