A. Start and operate the APU
CAUTION : OBEY THE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS.

CAUTION : DO NOT OPERATE THE APU WHEN THE MAIN BATTERIES ARE OFF. IF YOU
_______ OPERATE THE APU IN THESE CONDITIONS, YOU CAN CAUSE THESE RESULTS:
-IF THERE IS AN APU FIRE, THE APU FIRE-BOTTLES WILL NOT OPERATE
-
THERE WILL BE NO DE-OILING OF THE APU DURING SHUT-DOWN. THIS WILL CAUSE SMOKE IN THE CABIN
-
THERE WILL BE NO COOL-DOWN SEQUENCE OF THE APU
-THE IGV WILL NOT CLOSE FULLY. THIS CAN CAUSE PROBLEMS WHEN YOU START THE APU AGAIN.
NOTE : If the APU is to be started on BAT, and the OAT is 0 deg. C or
____ less, to avoid APU AUTO S/D due to air in the APU fuel delivery line, it is recommended that immediately after the APU has started and the "AVAIL" light is on, select APU GEN to provide A/C electrical power and start L1 or L2 main fuel boost pump.
NOTE : If the APU is to be started on EXT POWER, make sure that the
____ batteries are switched ON. If not, the APU may not start and shut down.
NOTE : Make sure that 5 seconds elapsed between APU master P/BSW ON and
____
APU start P/BSW is pressed in.

ACTION RESULT -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. On the APU section on the panel 25VU:
-push the APU MASTER SW
pushbutton switch.
2.
Get access to the APU menu page in the SYSTEM REPORT/TEST (Ref. TASK 31-32-00-860-001).
3.
On the MCDU:
-push the line key adjacent to the APU DATA/OIL indication.
4. On the MCDU:
-push the line key adjacent to the RETURN indication.
5. On the MCDU:
-push the line key adjacent to the SYSTEM SELF-TEST indication.
6. On the MCDU:
-push the line key adjacent to the RETURN indication until the CFDS menu comes into view.
7. On the APU section on the panel 25VU:
-push the APU START pushbutton switch.
This is a nuisance fault of ECB software 2.02 and should be disregarded (Ref. to AI-SIL 49-027 Para. 2.D.)
On the APU section on the panel 25VU:
-
the ON legend in the APU MASTER SWpushbutton switch comes on.
On the MCDU:
-
the APU menu page comes on.
On the MCDU:
-
the APU DATA/OIL page comes on, withthe indication
-OIL LEVEL : OK
On the MCDU:
-
the APU menu page comes on.
On the MCDU:
-
the APU SYSTEM SELF-TEST page comeson with the indicationTEST IN PROGRESS and then TEST OK
On the MCDU:
-
the CFDS MENU page comes on.
On the APU section on the panel 25VU:
-
the ON legend in the APU STARTpushbutton switch comes on .
NOTE : The ECB (59KD) controls and
____ monitors the APU start.
On the APU page on the lower ECAM DU:
-all indications show that the APUoperates in the specified limitsduring the start sequence (no red and/or amber indications).
At the end of the APU start sequence:

If necessary, the APU generator can energize the aircraft electrical circuits. (Ref. TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
9.
If necessary, the APU can supply bleed air for the pre-conditioning (Ref. TASK 12-33-21-618-001).
On the panel 25VU:
-
the ON legend in the APU START pushbutton switch goes off.
-
the AVAIL legend in the APU START pushbutton switch comes on.
On the APU page on the lower ECAM DU:
-
the AVAIL message comes on.
-all indications show that the APU operates in the specified limits (no red and/or amber indications).
On the ENGINE/WARNING page on the upper ECAM DU:
-the APU AVAIL message comes on.
The APU generator supplies the aircraftelectrical circuits.
The APU supplies bleed air.
