SECTION 5
PERFORMANCE
5.11-6 FAA APPROVED

LANDING FIELD LENGTH
The landing distance shall be horizontal distance required to land and come to complete stop
from a point at a height of 50 ft. above the landing surface.
NOTE: Expect slower than normal engine spool-up following selection of reverse thrust at
airports with pressure altitudes greater than 9,000 ft.
CONDITIONS FOR ANTI-SKID OPERATIVE — FLAPS 39°:
1. All engines operating at high idle before touchdown (high idle automatically established
with gear down, flaps 39°) and reduced automatically to idle at touchdown.
2. Flaps 39° and gear down
3. Anti-Skid operative
4. Ground spoilers inoperative
PROCEDURES:
1. Landing was preceded by a steady 3° glide path approach down to the 50 foot height with
an airspeed of 1.3 VS; power levers were reduced to idle stop on all engines at 50 foot
height.
2. Immediately after touchdown, the nose was lowered and full brakes were applied.
Ground spoiler failure was simulated and the speed brakes were extended by placing
speed brake handle in full aft position. Appropriate time delays have been included in the
landing distances for this procedure. Credit was not taken for reverse thrust.
NOTE: Landing distances using automatic ground spoilers or reverse thrust will be less
than the demonstrated distances.
CONDITIONS FOR ANTI-SKID OPERATIVE — FLAPS 0°, 10° or 20°:
1. All engines operating at idle (Overfueling Inhibited, Airstart Ignition - ON)
2. Flaps 0°, 10° or 20° and gear down
3. Anti-Skid operative
4. Ground spoilers armed and automatically deployed on touchdown.

PERFORMANCE
FAA APPROVED 5.11-7
31 May 2001
PROCEDURES:
1. Landing was preceded by a steady 3° glide path approach down to the 50 foot height with
an airspeed of 1.3 VS; power levers were reduced to idle stop on all engines at the 50 foot
height.
2. Immediately after touchdown, the nose was lowered and full brakes were applied. Since
flap system failure is assumed, credit has been taken for automatic ground spoiler
deployment on touchdown. Credit was not taken for reverse thrust.
NOTE: Landing distances using reverse thrust will be less than the demonstrated
distances.
CONDITIONS FOR ANTI-SKID INOPERATIVE:
1. All engines operating at high idle before touchdown (high idle automatically established
with gear down, flaps 39°) and reduced automatically to idle at touchdown.
2. Flaps 39° and gear down
3. Full Anti-Skid braking protection is not available
NOTE: Open loop pulsed brake protection may be available if the Anti-Skid is left on.
See ABNORMAL PROCEDURES Section 3 for Anti-Skid failure procedures.
4. Ground spoilers inoperative
PROCEDURES:
1. Landing was preceded by steady 3° glide path approach down to 50 foot height with
airspeed of 1.3 VS; power levers were reduced to idle stop on all engines at 50 foot
height.
2. Immediately after touchdown, nose was lowered and ailerons were applied to maintain
wings as level as possible. Speed brakes were extended immediately by placing speed
brake handle in full aft position.
3. Brake application was delayed until the airplane was firmly on ground with wings level.
Light braking in the initial roll out was applied at 100 knots and gradually increased to
moderate braking as speed decreased. Brakes were modulated as necessary to prevent
skidding. Credit was not taken for reverse thrust.
NOTE: Landing distances using automatic ground spoilers or reverse thrust will be less
than the demonstrated distances.

PERFORMANCE
5.11-8 FAA APPROVED

OPERATING RULES (REQUIRED FOR COMMERCIAL OPERATORS)
1. Airport of Destination (Dry): No airplane shall takeoff at weight in excess of that which,
in accordance with the landing distances shown in the Operations Manual for the
elevation of airport of intended destination and for wind conditions anticipated there at
the time of the landing, would allow full stop landing at intended destination airport
within 60% of the effective length of the runway from point of 50 feet directly above the
intersection of obstruction clearance plane and the runway.
2. Airport of Destination (Wet). No airplane shall takeoff when appropriate weather reports
and forecasts, or a combination thereof, indicate that runways at destination airport may
be wet or slippery at estimated time of arrival unless effective runway length at
destination airport is at least 115% of intended destination dry runway length.
