You must do the servicing of the potable water and waste water tanks as soon as possible after a
flight. Read table 1 to determine if it is necessary to drain or not (depending on the ambient
temperature and the cold soak period). ENSURE that there are no residual fluids before you
install the fill/drain caps. If this is not done, the fluids can freeze immediately behind the
fill/drain caps and cause delays at the next servicing. When the airplane is at temperatures below
0°C (32°F), you can keep the drain valves open to permit residual fluids to vent out after the
system has been drained.

Drain all the galley equipment which contains water, such as coffee makers and water
boilers/heaters.
You must operate the water taps several times to ENSURE that the supply lines are empty.

All toilets should be drained to protect from freezing.
Life Rafts.................................................................................................................AS REQUIRED
If the life rafts are expected to be exposed to temperatures below -28°C (-20°F) it is
recommended that they should be removed from the airplane. At temperatures colder than this,
the CO2 cartridge may discharge.
Batteries........................................................................................................................ REMOVED
If the nickel-cadium batteries will be exposed to temperature below -18°C (0°F), the batteries
should be removed and stored in an area warmer than -18°C (0°F), but below 40°C (104°F).
Doors .................................................................................................................................CLOSED
The main cabin door, baggage compartment door and access doors should be closed to prevent
snow or rain from entering the airplane.

GROUND DE-ICING/ANTI-ICING PROCEDURES
PREFACE
This section contains procedures for ensuring safe operation during icing conditions and for Deicing/
Anti-Icing a Gulfstream IV airplane.
INTRODUCTION
Federal Aviation Regulations prohibit takeoff when snow, ice, or frost is adhering to wings and
control surfaces of the airplane. The Pilot-in-Command (PIC) has ultimate responsibility to
determine that all critical components of the airplane are free of ice, snow, or frost formations.
To ensure a safe takeoff in conditions conducive to icing, an inspection of critical airplane
