B. Enter the ALL ENGINE LANDING CLIMB GRADIENT chart with temperature
-5° C. Proceed right to 6000 ft., up to 55,000 pounds (24,948 kg), then proceed
left to the Cowl and Wing Anti-icing reference line and follow the guidelines to
read Climb Gradient = 21.5%.

SECTION 5.11 FINAL APPROACH AND LANDING
APPROACH SPEED FOR LANDING DISTANCE (VREF)
The variation of approach speed for landing distance with weight and altitude is shown for flaps
39°. Additional charts are provided for use with flaps 0°, 10° and 20° in the event of the partial
flap landing. The speeds shown are effective throughout the certified temperature and altitude
range of airplane.
NOTE: Recommended final approach speed is VREF plus 10 knots. If gusty wind conditions
exist, add 1/2 of the difference between the steady state wind and gust (maximum of
additional 10 knots of gust additive). VREF will still be target speed at the threshold.
CAUTION: TIRE SPEED LIMITATIONS WILL BE EXCEEDED IF TOUCHDOWN IS
MADE IN EXCESS OF 195 KNOTS GROUND SPEED (SN 1214 and subs. and
SN 1000 thru 1213 with ASC 190).

LANDING FIELD LENGTH
The landing distance shall be horizontal distance required to land and come to complete stop
from a point at a height of 50 ft. above the landing surface.
NOTE: Expect slower than normal engine spool-up following selection of reverse thrust at
airports with pressure altitudes greater than 9,000 ft.
CONDITIONS FOR ANTI-SKID OPERATIVE — FLAPS 39°:
1. All engines operating at high idle before touchdown (high idle automatically established
with gear down, flaps 39°) and reduced automatically to idle at touchdown.
2. Flaps 39° and gear down
3. Anti-Skid operative
4. Ground spoilers armed and automatically deployed on touchdown.
PROCEDURES:
1. Landing was preceded by a steady 3° glide path approach down to the 50 foot height with
an airspeed of 1.3 VS; power levers were reduced to idle stop on all engines at 50 foot
height.
2. Immediately after touchdown, the nose was lowered and full brakes were applied. Auto
ground spoiler deployment was initiated at main gear touchdown by wheel speed spin-up.
If the auto ground spoiler system was not armed, the speed brakes were manually
deployed after brake application, and appropriate time delays have been included in the
landing distances for this procedure. Credit was not taken for reverse thrust.
NOTE: Landing distances using reverse thrust will be less than the demonstrated
distances.
CONDITIONS FOR ANTI-SKID OPERATIVE — FLAPS 0°, 10° or 20°:
1. All engines operating at idle (Airstart Ignition - ON)
2. Flaps 0°, 10° or 20° and gear down
3. Anti-Skid operative
4. Ground Spoiler / Flap Override Switch selected ON.
5. Ground spoilers armed and automatically deployed on touchdown.
