INTRODUCTION
The ABD100 Test Suite
The ABD100 Test Suite is a library of over 8,000 files providing the sequences
necessary to test electronic equipment that must meet the ABD0100.1.8 Standard
defined by Airbus Industries. It is used with the SmartWave (SW) AC/DC power
source, which is designed to simulate power for testing electronic equipment - Device
Under Test (DUT) - to determine whether the DUT can withstand DC power
fluctuations or AC power fluctuations within a frequency range of 360 to 800 Hz during
real-time operation.
The ABD100 Test Suite is accessed through the SmartWave Control Suite (SWCS)
application software whose function is to interactively control the power supply. From
the ABD0100.1.8 Standard the user first determines which test specifications are
applicable to the DUT, and next, in SWCS, inputs initial settings for the required tests,
and then selects and runs the tests. Combinations of user-selected tests can be
saved to the hard drive for recall and repeated use. Individual tests may be modified
and saved as custom tests to be used in place of the original tests. With this large
library of test sequences designed according to ABD0100.1.8 specifications, the user
is freed from the complexity of building separate tests and can focus on managing
and running the test(s) applicable to the DUT.
The library consists of tests conforming to Tables A through E, Tests 1 through 10
(with the exception of Test 5 in Tables A through D and Test 4 in Table E, which are
the voltage spike tests). It also includes two types of tests that are defined by the
ABD0100.1.8 Standard but are not specific to Tables A through E of the Standard.
The first type is warm-up tests, which have been built into Tables A-E in the Test
Suite so that they can be run prior to the sequence tests in a given Table (see
Appendix A.2.2). The second type is in-rush current tests, which are built into a
customized table, Table N ("non-table" tests), for purposes of implementation
(Appendix A.2.3).

ABD100 TEST SUITE OPERATION
Loading the Software
The Smart Wave Control Suite and the ABD100 Test Suite are both on CD-ROM and
are self-installing. Insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, and a self-start
installation process will begin automatically.
However, if the host computer is not set up for automatic installation, from Windows use
the Start>Run… command. Once the application software and the library files are
installed, start SWCS by clicking on the SWCS desktop icon.
2.2 The SWCS User Interface

As shown in Figure 2–1, the SWCS User Interface is comprised of basic text Menus, a
Toolbar, a Status Bar, and Interface Tabs. While the Standards menu will be the focus
for selecting and running tests, the SWCS User Interface components are briefly
described in the following table:
