Based on the above principle, the main instrument indication and relevant actions are given below for the following instrument failures:-
I. IRS FAILURE:
Main Indication: RED ATT on respective PFD and HDG on respective ND against
black background.
Action :
1. "Going on standby horizon, monitor my pitch & bank"
2. " I have IRS failure; check any flag / failure your side."
3. If no similar failure with PNF "you have controls; maintain hdg./ turn/ climb / descend etc."
4. Transfer ATT / HDG followed by ADC (for FAC-limit speeds) and FD on the switching Panel. (top 3 pushbuttons)
5. If instruments restored, take over controls; if not restored allow PNF to fly, re-engage other auto-pilot & monitor on standby horizon.
6. Accomplish Normal Procedures and “After T/O checklist” to the line.
7. Carry out IRS failure checklist.
II. EFIS SGU Failure
Indication: Respective PFD & ND blank with a diagonal across.
Action: Same as for IRS failure above except for switching, which is to transfer EFIS SGU.
III ADC Failure
Main Instrument Indications: FD flag with the speed scale on PFD replaced by a red line SPD flashing and red flag on Altimeter / VSI.
Actions :
1. "Going on standby instruments." (ASI, Altimeter)
2. "I have ADC failure; check any flag / failure your side".
3. If no similar failure with PNF, "you have controls maintain alt. / heading / turn / climb etc.
4. Transfer ADC followed by FD.
5. If instruments recovered, take over controls. If not, allow PNF to fly, re-engage other A/P and monitor on the standby instruments.
6. Accomplish Normal Procedures and “After T/O checklist” to the line.
6. Carry out ECAM actions followed by ADC failure check list.
IV. PFD Failure
Indications: PFD blank
Actions: Carry out "LOSS OF PFD DISPLAY C/L".
Recommendation: if just a CRT failure may switch off PFD while awaiting C/L & get display on ND if reqd.
V. Check ATT Warning
Indication: Check ATT warning on both PFDs with FD flags on both PFDs. It appears when there is discrepancy of 40 in pitch or roll between the two PFD displays. Action involves correctly identifying the failed side.
