IMMEDIATE ACTIONS
Ign.......Cont. Relight
RAT .......Deploy (Both pilots)
Speed....260 kts. (The optimum airspeed to achieve best L/D ratio and to allow
effective wind milling start attempt.)
Pitch Approx 00
“Both Engine Flameout C/L”
NOTES:
- Flying control with CM 1
- Turn towards the nearest suitable airfield
- Ask for "Both Engine Flame Out" Check list
- Avoid abrupt rudder and elevator inputs because RUD TRAVEL & PITCH FEEL are in low speed configuration.
- Communication VHF 1 / ATC 1 with CM 1
- Inform ATC "MAY DAY" call, 7700 on Transponder, also set emergency frequency 121.5 on VHF 1 and transmit "MAY DAY" call, giving your approx. position ( Bearing/Distance )
- Leave the airway to the left or depending on position of suitable airfield
- Don the oxygen masks to anticipate cabin depressurization, check cabin alt. when cabin altitude reaches 14000' ft. Passenger oxygen system will actuate, if it does not actuate press Man. override.
- Immediately start Relight procedure (PNF)
Fuel supply check (check ISOL VALVES open)
- Fuel lever ON, check time 45 sec
- If neither engine starts within 45 sec, fuel lever OFF.
- Ventilate for 30 sec.
- Keep on trying to restart the engines i.e. 45 sec ON, 30 sec. OFF.
- Approaching FL 200 and no relight, start APU and use starter assisted start for one engine while continuing with both fuel lever ON for 45 sec., OFF 30 sec. As long as restart is unsuccessful, alternate the engine for which the assisted start is attempted simultaneously attempting a windmilling start for the other engine.
- Call the IFS, inform him about both Engine Flame out, and ask him to prepare the cabin and passengers for forced landing or ditching depending on the situation.
- If either engine starts (relight), the ECAM is reactivated and provides ENG FAIL/ENG. SHUT DOWN message for the remaining failed engine. Restore affected equipment and return for landing. Attempt a cross bleed start or APU assisted start of the other engine.
- If neither engine recovered and APU is available, the Electrical Pumps may be used to restore GREEN hydraulic pressure.
- If on BAT only, LAND RECOVERY ON.
- Config. FLAP 150 is considered the optimum setting obtaining best controllability and optimum rate of descent (approx. 1500 ft/min.)
- The recommended speed Vref + 25 ensures an adequate stall margin and controllability (RAT}.
- Fuel levers............OFF.
- On short finals reduce speed as required by landing terrain in order to touch down with minimum V/S.
