HYDRAULIC FAILURES
The following notes give some highlights and a method of tackling the hydraulic failures in a systematic manner. This of course includes applying the full ECAM and QRH procedures. The HYDRAULIC POWER DISTRIBUTION table (QRH 8.01) gives the full picture for equipment affected.
SINGLE HYD SYS FAILURE : Complete the ECAM actions and QRH – this consists basically of the loss of some Pitch Feel and Spoiler systems and in case of the Green system a L/G gravity extension.
Except in the case of a total loss of fluid, it may be possible to recover the system.
DUAL HYD SYS LOW PR :
Silence CRC
LAND ASAP (remember overweight procedures, if necessary)
IN ALL THREE CASES L/G GRAVITY EXTENSION ONLY and NWS NOT AVAIL.
Follow emergency task sharing –
PF : HANDLING – Do not exceed VFE and maintain maneuvering speed if Flaps/Slats stuck.
- AP (2) available only in case of Yellow remaining
- If Blue remaining Stab Trim not available.
PROCEDURES – “ECAM ACTIONS”
- Contact ATC (PAN PAN PAN) and inform them about
(i) positive landing clearance requirement
(ii) inability to clear runway without tow.
- Obtain the WX, TREND, approach & RW available.
(Be aware of RW length requirement)
- Make the diversion decision, if necessary ask for a hold or longer vector.
- Inform Company of diversion and tow equipment
