(d) Wipe the surface with a tack rag to remove remaining particles.
(3) S 117-017-B00If the primer is removed and aluminum shows, do this task, Decorative Exterior Paint System - Cleaning/Painting (AMM 51-21-99/701).
(4) S 957-047-B00Apply masking tape on the adjacent areas.
(5) S 377-046-B00Do these steps to prepare the nonskid finish: (a) Mix coating according to the manufacturers instruction.
NOTE:____ The pot life for the mixture is 3.5 hours for the white mixture and 2.5 hours for the black mixture.
(b) While continuing mixing the coating, add 0.030 (.028-.032) pounds of Grade 1/2 pumice per gallon of mixed coating.
NOTE:____ Addition of pumice to the black coating is optional when the black coating is applied directly over the white coating containing pumice.
(6) S 377-020-B00Apply the nonskid finish as follows: (a) Spray one or more layers of the nonskid finish making sure that the dry thickness is bewtween 0.005 to 0.007 inches (6 to 8 ounces for each square yard).
NOTE:____ The dry thickness is the distance from the primer to the external surface.
(b) Let each layer of nonskid finish dry for 15 minutes before you apply the next coat.

CAUTION: ANY MASKING TAPE ADJACENT TO THE OVERWING EMERGENCY EXIT
_______ WALKWAY COATING EDGE SHOULD BE PULLED BEFORE THE COATING IS THOROUGHY DRY SO THAT REMOVAL OF THE COATING IS AVOIDED.
(7) Remove the masking tape.
(a)
Let the finish air dry a minimum of 2 hours before removing the masking tape.
(b)
Carefully remove the masking tape before the finish is fully dry.

Air dry a minimum of 4 hours at 90°F prior to walking on coating.

Air dry the finish a minimum of 24 hours at 70°F prior to service.

3. Repair - Nonskid Finish

A. General
(1) The damage area must be less than 10 percent of the necessary painted area.
B. Consumables
(1) G00383 Abrasive Paper - Aluminum Oxide, 100-grit (or finer).
C. Procedure

(1) To prepare the nonskid surface repair, do these steps:
(a)
Remove loose material.
(b)
Rub the surface smooth with 100-grit or finer abrasive paper.
(c)
Smooth and feather the paint edges with 100-grit or finer abrasive paper.

(2) To apply the nonskid finish, do this task; Nonskid Finish -Cleaning/Painting.
