_________________________________________________________________ ú MAINTENANCE PRACTICES (CONDITIONAL INSPECTION)
______________________________________________
1. General
_______ ú A. This procedure contains one task: ú (1) Outboard Flap Carriage Spindle Fracture Inspection.
B. Operators have reported that due to fracture of inboard spindle of the ú outboard flap, pilots have had to hold more than 2.5 units of wheel or an ú unspecified amount of rudder to keep the airplane level. With one
spindle broken, the airplane is controllable. But with both spindles broken at the critical section (forward end of the spindle), continued ú safe flight and landing for the airplane may be precluded. For this
reason, if the flight crew reports that during the flap operation they ú had to use 2.5 or more units of wheel and/or 1.0 and/or more unit of ú rudder to keep the airplane level, both spindles must be inspected for ú fracture. ú C. Inspect outboard flap carriage spindles for fractures, if either of the ú conditions below are required to maintain level flight when flaps are in ú transition or at any extended positions: ú (1) 2.5 units or more or wheel. ú (2) 1.0 or more units of rudder. ú ú
WARNING:_______YOU MUST PERFORM THIS INSPECTION PRIOR TO THE ú NEXT FLIGHT. IF YOU DO NOT PERFORM THIS ú INSPECTION PRIOR TO THE NEXT FLIGHT, INJURY TO ú PERSONS CAN OCCUR.
D. This inspection is required prior to the next flight. ú ú TASK 05-51-75-212-002 ú2. Outboard Flap Carriage Spindle Fracture Inspections
