S 862-002
(1) Set the switch and the circuit breaker:
(a)
Set the APU master switch on the P5 forward overhead panel to the OFF position and attach a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag.
(b)
Open this circuit breaker and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag: 1) E3-3 Electrical Shelf, APU Control Unit

(2) Open the APU cowl door:
(a)
Open the latches for the APU cowl door.
(b)
Open the APU cowl door.
(c)
Connect the door support rods.

CAUTION:_______BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE THE LOWER SHROUD. DAMAGE TO THE SHROUD DRAIN LINES CAN OCCUR.
(3) Remove the lower shroud:
(a)
Hold the lower shroud and open the shroud latches.
(b)
Remove the lower shroud.

WARNING:_______OPEN THE APU COWL DOOR CAREFULLY. IF THE TURBINE WHEEL BRAKES AND THE PIECES ARE NOT CONTAINED WITHIN THE APU, PIECES CAN FALL OUT WHEN THE APU ACCESS DOOR IS OPENED.
(4) Do an examination of the APU exhaust duct muffler.
(a)
Do an inspection of the exhaust duct muffler
(AMM 49-81-11/601).
(b)
Clean any unwanted material from the area.
S 212-006
(5) Do an examination of the bleed air system.
(a)
Remove the bleed air valve (AMM 49-52-11/401).
(b)
Do an examination of the bleed air valve for damage and unwanted material.
(c)
Do an examination of the bleed air duct for damage and unwanted material.
(d)
Install the bleed air valve (AMM 49-52-11/401).
S 212-007
(6) Do an examination of the APU compartment.
(a)
Do a visual examination of wires, wire harnesses and plugs. Repair the problems that you find.
(b)
Do a visual examination of air, oil and fuel lines. Repair the problems that you find.
(c)
Do a visual inspection of the fire detection system (AMM 26-15-00/001). Repair the problems that you find.

(7) If the turbine wheel pieces were not contained in the APU, do the examination of the internal structure in the area.
(a) Do an examination of the APU interior compartment including the APU inlet bulkhead and torque box. Repair the problems that you find.
