TAIL DRAG CONDITION (CONDITIONAL INSPECTION) - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES

1. General_______
A. This inspection procedure must be done when the airplane tail was dragged (touched the runway) when the airplane landed, or during a takeoff. Damage can occur to the fuselage when the tail touches the runway. If damage is found, refer to the applicable Structural Repair Manual procedures.

A. Procedures

(1)
Visually examine the lower fuselage external skin surface(s) from station 947 (approximate aft cargo bay aft bulkhead) to the APU compartment. Look for signs of scrapes and cracked or buckled belly skin. Also look for fasteners that are loose or are not there.
S 212-003
(2)
If there is external damage found, examine the fuselage internally. Look for bent or cracked stringers, frames, or clips. Also look for buckled or wrinkled webs, and fasteners that are loose or are not there.
(a) If there is damage found, use the applicable Structural Repair Manual and do the repairs.

AIRFRAME VIBRATION CONDITION - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES

1. General_______
A. This procedure has this task:
(1) a check to locate the cause of inflight airframe vibration with steps to eliminate or reduced this vibration.
B. You can possibly feel a vibration similar to mach buffet in the forward cabin when these conditions occur:
(1)
At high speed, the trailing edge flaps can cause the vibration.
(2)
At low speeds on climb and in cruise, these parts can cause the vibration:
(a)
ground spoiler float
(b)
too much play in the outboard aileron and tab
(c)
loose doors and fairings.
