On the SADDE SIX Arrival into LAX, the Approach Control told us we would be
following a heavy 757. Shortly thereafter we encountered some wake that rolled us
left and right about 15 degrees. We were in LNAV descending to 10,000' MSL and
slowing to 250 knots. About the time we were to turn from SADDE to BAYST, the
instruments showed the turn but the plane did not start turning. The Captain
noticed the LNAV was not engaged anymore and at the same time SoCal asked if
we were in our turn to which we replied yes because we had just noticed it. He
gave us a heading of 050 direct to Santa Monica. We were about a half of mile from
SADDE when this occurred. We complied and that was the end of the event. I think
this was something that would have been hard to prevent unless there was a
flashing light or a sound that indicated LNAV had disengaged such as when the
autopilot is turned off. The event was handled as well as it could have been and as
quickly as it could have been.
Synopsis
A B737 encountered B757 wake vortices on the LAX SADDE SIX arrival. LNAV
disconnected during the wake event without a crew alert causing a track deviation
when the aircraft did not intercept the SMO 261.

During takeoff encountered light turbulence from aircraft departing ahead. Heard
loud bang, loss of number 2 eng power about 50%. ECAM number 2 eng stall. Went
through QRH/emergency procedures. Engine restarted itself. Contacted Dispatch
and Maintenance Control. Advised to return to our departure airport for inspection.
Advised flight attendants and passengers whenever possible of what was happening.
Returned to overweight landing at 139,700 LBS at 100-200 FT per min at touch
down. Suspect airflow disruption from aircraft, which departed ahead of us.
Synopsis
A320 Captain reports encountering wake vortex from preceding aircraft that caused
compressor stall and restart. Crew elected to return to departure airport for
maintenance inspection.
