3.3 FAMILIARIZATION WITH CNS/ATM CONCEPTS
3.3.1 Introduction
3.3.1.1 Communication, navigation, surveillance and air traffic management systems provide essential tools
for the delivery of Air Navigation Services. ATSEP main duties are to maintain, modify, repair, and develop
these systems, while keeping them fully operational and safe. The consequences of system outages and their
direct impact on the users (i.e. pilots, air traffic controller) may result in unsafe situations, or cause excessive
delays in the operation of the airline industry.
3.3.1.2 The syllabus contained in this sub-section gives a general view of these elements, including power
distribution.
3.3.2 Training objective
3.3.2.1 Students shall be familiar with Navaids, communication, surveillance and data processing systems
used for ATM.
Condition: Provided with a broad outline of the national ANS customers, users, and systems, and
