FAR 27.753 : Main .oat design
(a)
Bag .oats. Each bag .oat must be designed to withstand–

(1)
The maximum pressure di.erential that might be developed at the maximum altitudeforwhich certi.cationwiththat .oatisrequested; and

(2)
The verticalloadsprescribedinSec.27.521(a),distributed along thelength of the bag over three-quarters of its projected area.

(b)
Rigid .oats. Each rigid .oat must be able to withstand the vertical, horizontal, and sideloadsprescribedinSec.27.521.Theseloads may bedistributed along the length of the .oat.

FAR 27.755 : Hulls
For each rotorcraft, with a hull and auxiliary .oats, that is to be approved for both taking o. from and landing on water, the hull and auxiliary .oats must have enough watertight compartments so that, with any single compartment .ooded, the buoyancy ofthehullandauxiliary .oats(andwheeltiresifused) providesamarginofpositive stability great enough to minimize the probability of capsizing.

Subpart D : Design and Construction
64.6 Personnel and Cargo Accommodations
FAR 27.771 : Pilot compartment
For eachpilot compartment–
(a)
The compartment and its equipment must allow each pilot to perform his duties without unreasonable concentration orfatigue;

(b)
If thereisprovisionfor a secondpilot, the rotorcraft mustbe controllable with equal safety from either pilot seat; and

(c)
The vibration and noise characteristics of cockpit appurtenances may not interfere with safe operation.

FAR 27.773 : Pilot compartment view

(a)
Eachpilot compartment mustbefreefromglare and re.ectionsthat couldinterfere with the pilot’s view, and designed so that–

(1)
Each pilot’s view is su.ciently extensive, clear, and undistorted for safe ope-ration; and

(2)
Each pilot is protected from the elements so that moderate rain conditions do not unduly impair his view of the .ight path in normal .ight and while landing.

(b)
If certi.cationfor night operationis requested, compliance withparagraph(a) of this section must be shown in night .ight tests.

FAR 27.775 : Windshields and windows
[Windshields andwindows must be made of material that will not break into dange-rous fragments.] Amdt. 27-27, E.. 10/22/90
FAR 27.777 : Cockpit controls
Cockpit controls must be–
(a)
Located to provide convenient operation and to prevent confusion and inadvertent operation; and

(b)
Located and arranged with respect to thepilots’ seats so that thereisfull and unres-tricted movement of each control without interference from the cockpit structure or the pilot’s clothing when pilots from 5’2” to 6’0” in height are seated.

FAR27.779:[Motionande.ectof cockpit controls.]
[Cockpit controls must be designedso that they operate in accordance with the fol-lowing movements and actuation :
(a)
Flight controls, including the collective pitch control, must operate with a sense of motion which corresponds to the e.ect on the rotorcraft.

(b)
Twist-grip engine power controls must be designed so that, for lefthand operation, the motion of the pilot’s hand is clockwise to increase power when the hand is viewed from the edge containing the index .nger. Other engine power controls, excluding the collective control, must operate with a forward motion to increase power.

(c)
Normal landing gear controls must operate downward to extend the landing gear.] Amdt. 27-21, E.. 12/6/84

FAR 27.783 : Doors

(a)
Each closed cabin must have at least one adequate and easily accessible external door.

(b)
[Eachexternal door must be located where persons using it will not be endangered by the rotors, propellers, engineintakes, and exhausts when appropriateoperating procedures are used. If opening procedures are required, they must be marked inside, on or adjacent to the door opening device.]
