Each auxiliarypowerunit and combustionheater,and any othercombustionequip-menttobeusedin .ight,mustbeisolatedfromtherest oftherotorcraftby.rewalls, shrouds, or equivalent means.

(c)
In meeting paragraphs (a) and (b) of this section, account must be taken of the probablepathof a .reasa.ectedbytheair.owinnormal.ight andinautorotation.

(d)
Each .rewall and shroud must be constructed so that no hazardous quantity of air, .uids, or .ame can pass from any engine compartment to other parts of the rotorcraft.

(e)
Each opening in the .rewall or shroud must be sealed with close-.tting, .reproof grommets, bushings, or .rewall .ttings.

(f)
Each .rewall and shroud mustbe .reproof andprotected againstcorrosion.

FAR 27.1193 : Cowling and engine compartment covering
(a)
Each cowling and engine compartment covering must be constructed and supported so thatit can resist the vibration,inertia, and airloadsto whichit maybe subjected in operation.

(b)
There must be means for rapid and complete drainage of each part of the cowling or engine compartment in the normal ground and .ight attitudes.

(c)
No drain may discharge where it might cause a .re hazard.

(d)
Each cowling and engine compartment covering must be at least .re resistant.

(e)
Each part of the cowling or engine compartment covering subject to high tempera-turesdue toits nearness to exhaust systemparts or exhaustgasimpingement must be .reproof.

(f)
[Ameans of retaining each openable or readily removable panel, cowling, or engine or rotor drive system covering must be provided to preclude hazardous damage to rotors or critical control componentsin the event of structural or mechanicalfailure of the normal retention means, unless such failure is extremely improbable.]
