G. GUN 102-999; System Control Unit Test
S 735-015
(1) Do the steps that follow to do a test of the system control unit:
(a) Push the SYST PWR switch on at the SCU (the light comes on). 1) Make sure the POWER lights on the VTRs come on.
NOTE: If the lights do not come on, push the POWER switch

on each VTR.
(b) Insert a video test tape into VTR-1.
NOTE: The VTR automatically installs the tape when you push it
____ in the VTR. The VTR does an automatic search mode when the tape is installed. The VTR does the search for approximately 40 seconds.
(c)
Touch CONT on the SCU. 1) Make sure the display shows the correct number of VTRs. 2) Make sure the airplane zone display flashes with the
correct number of zones.
(d)
Touch each airplane zone on the SCU.
(e)
Touch VIDEO 1 on the SCU.
(f)
Touch PA on the SCU.
(g)
Make sure the VIDEO 1 display, PA display, and the aircraft zone display are the same color.
NOTE: A prompt screen will show for 5 seconds.

(h) Push the EXEC switch on the SCU. 1) Make sure the PLAY switch-light on VTR-1 comes on. 2) Make sure the video signal from VTR-1 shows on all of the
monitors.
NOTE: It can be some minutes until the tape gets to a

video signal.
3) Make sure you hear the video audio from the PA speakers.
(i)
Push the MENU switch on the SCU.
(j)
Touch ZONE B on the SCU.
(k)
Touch VIDEO-2 on the SCU.
NOTE: A prompt screen will show for 5 seconds.

(l) Push the EXEC switch on the SCU.
NOTE: It can be some minutes until the tape gets to a video

signal.
(m) Make sure the PLAY switch-light on VTR-2 comes on.

Touch OFF on the SCU.
(p)
Push the EJECT button on the VTR.
(q)
Push the SYST PWR switch off at the SCU.

(1) Do these steps at the tuner-monitor in the video control center:
(a)
Push the POWER switch to the on position.
(b)
Push the PL 1 switch.

(2) Do these steps at the video tape reproducer (referred to as the VTR) in the video control center:
(a)
Put in a video cassette tape.
(b)
After the video cassete tape has threaded, push the PLAY switch. 1) Make sure a clear video picture shows on the tuner-monitor
(adjust the FIX control on the VTR if necessary).

Make sure a clear video picture shows on each video monitor in the passenger cabin.

(4)
Do these steps at any passenger seat:
(a)
Connect a headphone to the armrest jack.
(b)
Make sure clear video audio with sufficent volume is heard on channels 1 and 2 on the passenger control unit.
