MAINTENANCE MANUAL

 B.  GUN 008-999; Entertainment Tape Reproducer
_____________________________
 (1)
Boarding music comes from the entertainment tape reproducer (AMM 23-34-00). In that system, boarding music is a unique channel of entertainment, which goes to the PA system.

 (2)
Boarding music channel selection and volume can be set with the MUSIC controls on the forward attendant's panel P21.

 C.  GUN 001-007; Boarding Music Tape Reproducer
______________________________
 (1)
The tape reproducer is located on the E4-4 shelf in the main equipment center. The unit supplies 4 channels of boarding music to the PA amplifier.

 (2)
Two Philips-type cassette tapes are installed via an access door on the side of the tape reproducer. The cassette loading positions are identified 1A and 1B. The cassettes must be installed in the proper loading position with the correct side facing out for automatic track switching and audio reproduction in the forward direction.

 (3)
The pair of boarding music tapes play in one direction only. One of the tape pair contains the first half of the four monaural music programs, and the other the second half. The tape reproducer plays the first and second tapes alternately to provide boarding music without any interruption.

 (4)
The front panel of the tape reproducer has a channel select switch which is placed in AUTO for normal operation. A jack on the front panel allows audio monitoring using a pneumatic headset.

 (5)
Tape reproducer on/off and volume control is provided by the MUSIC switch on the forward attendants panel P21. The tape reproducer requires 115v ac for operation.

 D.  Passenger Address Speakers
 (1)
Speakers with impedance matching transformers are installed in the ceiling adjacent to passenger doors and in other attendant areas. These speakers supply sound from the PA system to the flight attendants.

 (2)
Speakers near attendant handsets mute when the adjacent handset is lifted off the hook. The audio accessory unit senses the off-hook condition and energizes the related muting relay. This prevents feedback during PA announcements.

 E.  Lavatory Speakers
 (1)  A speaker with impedance matching transformer is installed in the ceiling of each lavatory. These speakers supply sound from the PA system to the lavatory occupants.
