For LLAR installed and aft compartment system inoperative, LLAR is deactivated closed, and

For FCAC installed and forward compartment system inoperative, FCAC remains OFF.
NOTE 1: Operator MELs must define which items are approved for inclusion in the fly away kits and which materials can be used as ballast.
NOTE 2: These provisions are not intended to prohibit LLAR inspections by crewmembers.

(M)(O) Smoke detection in any zone may be inoperative provided:
a)
Procedures are established and used to verify the associated compartment zone and adjacent compartment zone(s) remains empty or contains only ballast, empty cargo handling equipment (ballast may be loaded in ULDs), or fly away kits,
b)
For LLAR installed and aft compartment Zone 2 or Zone 3 detector inoperative, LLAR is deactivated closed, and
c)
For FCAC installed and any forward compartment system zone detector inoperative, FCAC remains OFF.
