ENGINE FIRE EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

1. General
_______
A. This procedure includes the component location and operational descriptions of the engine fire warning devices, the engine shutdown controls, and the fire extinguishing controls.
B. The emergency shutdown system for an engine fire is part of the airplane fire protection system. Refer to Engine Fire Detection (AMM 26-11-00/001) and Engine Fire Extinguishing (AMM 26-21-00/001) for detailed system descriptions.
C. The emergency shutdown procedure for an engine fire is also part of the engine control system. Refer to Engine Control System (AMM 76-11-00/001) for detailed system description.
2. Engine Fire - Emergency

A. Master Warning Lights (Fig. 1)
(1)
The master warning lights are found on the glare shield of the forward panel. There is one to the left side of the cockpit and one to the right side of the cockpit.
(2)
The master warning lights will illuminate red to indicate an engine fire.
B. Main Display for the Engine Indication and Crew Alerting System (EICAS) (Fig. 2)
(1)
The main display screen of the EICAS is found in the center of the forward panel with the auxiliary display screen found just below it.
(2)
The EICAS display will indicate an engine fire with the warning FIRE after the appropriate location, i.e. ENG 3 FIRE.
(3)
The EICAS warning FIRE will show in red letters in the upper right corner of the primary display screen.
C. Toggle Switch for the Fuel Control (Fig. 3)
(1)
The toggle switches for the fuel control are found at the aft end of the control stand.
(2)
The toggle switch for the applicable engine that has a fire, will be red.
D. Engine Fire Switch (Fig. 4)
(1)
The engine fire switches are found on the overhead panel.
(2)
The engine fire switch for the applicable engine that has a fire, will be red.
E. Aural Warning Devices (Fig. 4)
(1)
The aural warning devices are speakers installed in the overhead panel, just forward of the engine fire switches.
(2)
The aural warning devices will sound a bell to indicate an engine fire.
