Network Infrastructure (Standalone)
Each standalone client owns its database. When working on a manual, The manuals are downloaded as files
from an airbus server.
They are reviewed and edited on each client.
A validation will permit to generate a set of validation files. It can be transferred to another client for validation.
The data transfer is done as a set of files. (windows network or by CD-ROM transfer).
This correspond to basic work collaboration. The network is used for file transfer only.

Deploying FODM clients using JWS
When working on a distributed environment, client call for the server (http request).
Server send the FODM client application using HTTP protocol.
Client application is installed
User can start working on manual.
At each start, FODM client will check on FODM server if there is a new version of software. If the version is
changed, the client software is automatically updated.

Java Web Start
Java™ Web Start provides the power to launch fullfeatured
Java applications with a single click.
Once accessed through Java Web Start, the
application integrates seamlessly with the user's
desktop; from the user's point of view, it functions just
as a native application.
Additionally, Java Web Start serves users by
managing Java™ Runtime Environment versions and
automatically updating the application version.
JWS users are by default launched into the secure
Java sandbox, which prevents or limits access to
system resources such as the disk and the network.
Should users require unrestricted access, a digital
signature could be added, requiring the user to accept
or deny the access each time the application is
launched.

delivery.
The client should have the JRE
1.4.2_* installed.
