You will never have to modify the DTD. But you may have a look at the predefined

a template to help the author.

Editor - Validation
When a DU is modified, it can be necessary to check the
validity of the changes.
Use this shortcut
to validate your
XML sheet
The validation
errors are
displayed.
If the syntax of the document is incorrect, the document will be
saved, but the author will not be able to check-in the DU.
