The release panel is composed of four tabbed panes.
Each panel displays the tree view of the manual in its corresponding
release.
AI R: a copy of manual sent by Airbus (Not modifiable)
Working: Version of the manual edited by the Airline
Pending: Version of the Working manual containing validate DU, pending final approval
AL R: Archive of the Pending version , when the manual is validated

Edit A Document - Basic Principles
Check-in save the modifications in the FODM database.
It unlock the checked-out document.
Only the same user can check-in and out a document
Check-out lock a Document Unit. It can be edited.
Edit Checked-out document opens the Editor Window.
It enables a user to customize a checked-out document.

To edit and display the characteristics of the selected node,
with the "Qualified Name" of the attributes of the node and
its corresponding "Value".

Arbortext Editor
Arbortext can be used to replace FODM basic XML Editor. This is an
external editor. This tool shall be purchased from PTC.

Preview Window
“Preview” opens an independent
window.
“Preview” gives the exact output as
seen by the pilot on LPC Browser.
User can switch from one DU to
another with left/right arrows.

Edit Revision Marks
Revision marks can be set on each
DU.
It appears like a vertical bar in the
margin of the DU.
A wizard helps the author to
configure the place of the revision
mark and the highlight to set.

Tasks to perform for a successful update of a manual.
Update The Manual

Check that the manual is ready for update:
- No author is working on the manual,
- All DU are checked in.

Load your manual:
-FODM will perform a manual update.

Check all new Airbus DU
-Check new DU and DU revisions,
-Decide to import it or not.

Validate your new version of manual
- Switch each DU to release state,
- Freeze and Dispatch your manual.

Compare the difference between the Airline version and Airbus version.
Compare Revisions
Open the conflicted DU in Working. Open the corresponding DU in AI R.
Use the preview
function to view both
versions.
FODM preview DU doesn’t open the two DU side by side. It
shall be open one after the other.
FODM permits to copy the full DU or elements inside the DU
