(21) Disconnect the alternate air control cable:
S Release the screw which attaches the cable
wire end to the swivel in the alternate air
assembly.
S Remove the lock-nut which holds the Bowden
cable outer sheath in the support bracket at
the alternate air assembly.
S Move the Bowden-cable clear of the engine
mount.
WARNING: DO NOT GET FUEL ON YOU. FUEL CAN CAUSE SKIN DISEASE. DO
NOT ALLOW FIRE NEAR FUEL. FUEL BURNS AND CAN CAUSE
INJURY TO PEOPLE AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(22) Disconnect the fuel feed hose at the firewall. Use a suitable container to catch the
fuel. Put caps on the hose and the
firewall connector.
(23) Release the P-clamp which attaches the breather
pipe to the firewall.
Put caps on the breather pipe.
WARNING: DO NOT GET OIL ON YOU. OIL CAN CAUSE SKIN DISEASE.
(24) Disconnect the electrical connector for the oil
pressure sensor and remove the cable ties which
attach the electrical cable to the engine mount.
Note the position of the cable ties.
(25) Disconnect the cylinder-head temperature probe:
S Disconnect the electrical cables for the probe.
S Remove the cable ties which attach the
electrical cable for the probe to the engine
mount.
Do this item for each cylinder-head
temperature probe.
At the in-line connector.
Note the position of the cable-ties.

(26) Disconnect the electrical cables from these
components:
S The generator (5 cables).
S The starter motor (1 cable).
S Fuel pressure sensors (2 cables).
S Oil temperature sensor.
S Fuel flow sensor.
S RPM sensor.
S The SlickSTART booster control unit or
LASAR control unit.
S The voltage regulator
Remove the P-clamps and cable ties from the
right hand side of the engine. Move the cables
clear of the engine.
At the in-line connector.
At the in-line connector.
Note the locations of the P-clamps and
the cable ties!
(27) Disconnect the manifold pressure pipe from the
bulkhead connector at the firewall.
Put caps on the open connections.
(28) Disconnect the engine earth connection:
S Remove the bolt and washer which attach the
cable eye-end to the engine.
WARNING: DO NOT GO UNDER THE ENGINE WHILE IT IS HELD BY THE
ENGINE HOIST. IF THE HOIST FAILS, THE ENGINE CAN FALL AND
CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
(29) Attach the engine hoist to the engine. At the top of the engine. At the lifting
shackles.
Note: The hoist must hold the weight of the engine. The weight of the engine is 150 kg
(330 lb). If the propeller and spinner are fitted the total weight is 172 kg (378 lb).
(30) Adjust the hoist to “take the weight” of the engine.

(31) Remove the engine mount attachments:
S Remove the nut and washer which attaches
the nose wheel strut and engine mount to the
firewall.
S Remove the nuts and washers which attach
the bottom of the engine mount to the firewall.
S Remove the nuts and washers which attach
the top of the engine mount to the firewall.
S Pull the engine and engine mount forward
and clear of the airplane.
Lower the engine and engine mount into a stand.
Make sure that all electrical cables,
control cables and other items are clear
of the engine and the engine mount.

5. Install the Engine with the Engine Mount
Note: If you install a new engine, you must do the engine break-in procedure after
installation. Refer to Paragraph 11.
A. Preparation

(1) If you have not already done so:
S Raise the airplane on jacks and make the
airplane level.
S Move the nose trestle into position.
Refer to Section 07-10.

(2) Examine the engine and propeller control cables.
Move each cable through its range of movement
several times.
(3) Make sure all the electrical cables are clean and
not damaged.
(4) Make sure the oil hoses are not damaged.
(5) Make sure the fuel pipes/hoses are not damaged.
(6) Make sure that all drains and vents are not
damaged or blocked.
(7) Make sure that all the flexible hoses are clean
and not damaged.
