‘new medical certificate’ means a medical certificate issued under regulation 6.06 or
6.10 of the new regulations;
‘new private pilot (aeroplane) licence’ means a private pilot (aeroplane) licence issued
under subregulation 5.09 (1) of the new regulations;
‘new private pilot (gyroplane) licence’ means a private pilot (gyroplane) licence
issued under subregulation 5.09 (1) of the new regulations;
‘new private pilot (helicopter) licence’ means a private pilot (helicopter) licence
issued under subregulation 5.09 (1) of the new regulations;
‘new rating’ means a flight crew rating issued under subregulation 5.14 (2) of the new
regulations;
‘new regulations’ means the Civil Aviation Regulations as amended by these
Regulations;
‘new student flight engineer licence’ means a student flight engineer licence issued
under subregulation 5.09 (1) of the new regulations;
‘new student pilot licence’ means a student pilot licence issued under subregulation
5.09 (1) of the new regulations;
‘old aircraft radiotelegraph operator certificate of proficiency’ means an aircraft
radiotelegraph operator certificate of proficiency granted under subregulation 55B (1) or
73 (1) of the old regulations;
‘old aircraft radiotelephone operator certificate of proficiency’ means an aircraft
radiotelephone operator certificate of proficiency granted under subregulation 55B (1) or
73 (1) of the old regulations ;
‘old commercial pilot licence’ means a commercial pilot licence granted under
subregulation 55B (1), 63 (3) or 73 (1) of the old regulations;

‘old first class airline transport pilot licence’ means a first class airline transport pilot
licence granted under subregulation 55B (1), 63 (3) or 73 (1) of the old regulations;
‘old flight engineer licence’ means a flight engineer licence granted under
subregulation 55B (1), 63 (3) or 73 (1) of the old regulations;
‘old flight navigator licence’ means a flight navigator licence granted under
subregulation 55B (1), 63 (3) or 73 (1) of the old regulations;
‘old flight radiotelegraph operator licence’ means a flight radiotelegraph operator
licence granted under subregulation 55B (1), 63 (3) or 73 (1) of the old regulations;
‘old flight radiotelephone operator licence’ means a flight radiotelephone operator
licence granted under subregulation 55B (1), 63 (3) or 73 (1) of the old regulations;
‘old grade of rating’ means a grade of rating endorsed on an old licence under
subregulation 55B (1) of the old regulations;
‘old licence’ means any of the following:
(a) an old commercial pilot licence;
(b) an old first class airline transport pilot licence;
(c) an old flight engineer licence;
(d) an old flight navigator licence;
(e) an old flight radiotelegraph operator licence;
(f) an old flight radiotelephone operator licence;
(g) an old private pilot licence;
(h) an old senior commercial pilot licence;
(j) an old second class airline transport pilot licence;
(k) an old student pilot licence;
(m) an old aircraft radiotelegraph operator certificate of proficiency;
(n) an old aircraft radiotelephone operator certificate of proficiency;
‘old medical certificate’ means a medical certificate granted under regulation 72C or
72D of the old regulations;
‘old night V.F.R. rating’ means a night V.F.R. rating endorsed on an old licence under
subregulation 55B (1);
‘old private pilot licence’ means a private pilot licence granted under subregulation
55B (1), 63 (3) or 73 (1) of the old regulations;
‘old rating’ means a rating endorsed on an old licence under subregulation 55B (1) of
the old regulations;
‘old regulations’ means the Civil Aviation Regulations as in force immediately before
the commencement;
‘old senior commercial pilot licence’ means a senior commercial pilot licence granted
