Regulations.
(3) A person who holds a licence issued under Part V before the
commencement of these Regulations is to be taken to hold a valid medical certificate for
the purposes of regulation 55A until:
(a) a medical certificate is granted to him or her under regulation 72C or 72D,
as the case may be; or
(b) the Authority refuses to grant the certificate.
(4) If, at the commencement of these Regulations, a person holds a licence to
which regulation 72A of the amended Regulations refers, the period within which that
person must be examined under subregulation 72A (1) is to be taken to have
commenced immediately after the month in which the person was given an examination
under regulation 62 of the Principal Regulations as a consequence of which he or she
was granted that licence.

(5) If a period within which a person must be examined under regulation
72A (1) is found, when calculated in accordance with subregulation (4), to have expired
before the commencement of these Regulations, that person must have an examination
under subregulation 72A (1) not later than 4 weeks after the commencement of these
Regulations.
(6) A person required, under subregulation (4) or (5), to have an examination
may apply, in accordance with regulation 72B of the amended Regulations, for the
postponement of that examination.
(7) In this regulation, ‘amended Regulations’ means the Principal
Regulations as amended by these Regulations.”
4. Regulation 10 of Statutory Rules 1990 No. 332 reads as follows:
“Transitional
10. The Authority may, for the purposes of the Principal Regulations as in
force after the commencement of this regulation, treat a document issued by it before
that commencement in relation to a type of aircraft manufactured in a country other than
Australia as if the document were a certificate of type approval under regulation 22.”
5. Regulation 13 of Statutory Rules 1990 No. 466 reads as follows:
“Transitional
13. (1) An operational control rating issued under paragraph 103 (d) of the
Civil Aviation Regulations and in force immediately before the commencement of these
Regulations is taken to be an operational information service rating issued under that
paragraph as amended by these Regulations.
(2) A delegation by the Authority of its powers under regulation 257 of the
Civil Aviation Regulations and in force immediately before the commencement of these
Regulations continues in force after that commencement as if it had been made by the
Authority for the purposes of regulation 257 of the Civil Aviation Regulations as
substituted by these Regulations.
(3) A determination by the Authority under regulation 257 of the Civil Aviation
Regulations and in force immediately before the commencement of these Regulations
continues in force after the commencement as if it had been made by the Authority under
regulation 257 of the Civil Aviation Regulations as substituted by these Regulations.”
6. Regulation 5 of Statutory Rules 1991 No. 54 reads as follows:
“5. Savings
5.1 An exemption in force immediately before the commencement of these
Regulations, that was made, or is taken to have been made, under the old regulation, has
effect on and after the commencement of these Regulations as if it was made under the
new regulation.
5.2 In this regulation:
‘new regulation’ means regulation 308 of the Civil Aviation Regulations as in force
immediately after the commencement of these Regulations;

‘old regulation’ means regulation 308 of the Civil Aviation Regulations as in force
immediately before the commencement of these Regulations.
7. Regulation 17 of Statutory Rules 1991 No. 287 reads as follows:
“17. Transitional
17.1 A delegation by the Authority under regulation 7 of the Civil Aviation Regulations
(other than a delegation to the Chief Executive Officer) that was in force immediately
before the commencement of regulation 3 continues in force after that commencement
as if it were a delegation made by the Chief Executive Officer under regulation 7 of
these Regulations as amended by regulation 3.
17.2 If a person has been examined under subregulation 72A (1) or (3) of the Civil
Aviation Regulations as in force immediately before the commencement of these
regulations, the period within which the next examination must be carried out must be
