3.9 CRADLE AND TRANSPORTATION STANDS
3.9.1 Engine Cradle/Transportation Stand Description
The cradle and transportation stands are manufactured in accordance with Boeing and Pratt and Whitney Aircraft requirements. Note Figure 3-20 and Figure 3-21.
The transportation stand is equipped with a suspension system that protects the engine from excessive shocks and vibratory loads. This allows the engine to be transported via truck or airplane. To facilitate transportation, the stand is provided with attach points for towbar and tiedowns, forklift pockets and retractable casters.
The cradle supports the engine in flight position. It is equipped with bootstrap attach points for on-wing installation and removal of the engine. Unlike other handling systems for high bypass engines that have a centerline distance between the cradle rails of 90.0 in. (228.6 cm), PW2000 requires a centerline distance of 88.0 in. (223.5 cm).

4 ENGINE COMPONENT GROUND HANDLING
4.1 GENERAL
4.1.1 Component Handling overview
Components which require ground handling equipment fall into one or more of the following categories:
(1)
Weight exceeds 40 lb (18 kg)

(2)
Must be lifted and positioned overhead

(3)
Difficult to handle manually

The components which fall into these categories are lifted, via adapters, by a commercially available automotive transmission jack or by the specially designed engine accessory lift fixture shown in Figure 4-1.
INTEGRATED DRIVE GENERATOR (IDG)
The IDG is located at the bottom left side of the engine. It is mounted on the aft face of the high speed gearbox. The IDG is removed by translating aft until the splined drive clears the mounting pad, then lowering it clear of the surrounding equipment.
The IDG cradle, adapted to the engine accessory lift fixture and the transmission jack, is shown in Figure 4-2.
