FAR 21.187 : Issue of multiple airworthiness certi.cation.
(a) [An applicant for an airworthiness certi.cate in the restrictedcategory, and in one or more other categories except primary category, is entitled to the certi.cate, if–]
(1) He shows compliance withthe requirementsfor eachcategory, whenthe aircraft is in con.guration for that category; and
(2) He shows that the aircraft can be converted from one category to another by removing or adding equipment by simple mechanical means.
(b)
The operator of an aircraft certi.cated under this section shall have the aircraft inspected by the Administrator, or by a certi.cated mechanic with an appropriate airframe rating, todetermine airworthiness each time the aircraftis convertedfrom the restricted category to another category for the carriage of passengers for com-pensation or hire, unless the Administrator .nds this unnecessary for safety in a particular case.

The aircraft complies with the applicable requirements of part 34. Amdt. 21-70, E.. 12/31/92
FAR 21.189 : Issue of airworthiness certi.cate for limited category aircraft.
(a)
An applicant for an airworthiness certi.cate for an aircraft in the limited category is entitled to the certi.cate when–
(1)
He shows that the aircraft has been previously issued a limited category type certi.cate and that the aircraft conforms to that type certi.cate; and
(2)
TheAdministrator .nds,afterinspection(including a .ightcheckby theap-plicant), that the aircraft is in a good state of preservation and repair and is in a condition for safe operation.
(b)
TheAdministratorprescribeslimitations andconditions necessaryfor safe operation.

FAR 21.191 : Experimental certi.cates.
Experimental certi.cates are issued for the following purposes :
(a)
Research and development.Testing newaircraftdesignconcepts,new aircraft equip-ment, new aircraft installations, new aircraft operating techniques, or new uses for aircraft.
(b)
Showing compliance with regulations. Conducting .ight tests and other operations to show compliance with the airworthiness regulations including .ights to show compliance for issuance of type and supplemental type certi.cates, .ights to sub-stantiate major design changes, and .ights to show compliance with the function and reliability requirements of the regulations.
(c)
Crew training. Training of the applicant’s .ight crews.
(d)
Exhibition.Exhibiting the aircraft’s .ight capabilities,performance,orunusual cha-racteristics at air shows, motion picture, television, and similar productions, and themaintenanceofexhibition .ightpro.ciency,including(forpersonsexhibiting aircraft) .ying to and from such air shows and productions.
(e)
Air racing.Participatingin airraces,including(forsuchparticipants)practicingfor such air races and .ying to and from racing events.
(f)
Market surveys. Use of aircraft for purposes of conducting market surveys, sales demonstrations, and customer crew training only as provided in Sec. 21.195.
(g)
Operating amateur-built aircraft. Operating an aircraft the major portion of which has been fabricated and assembled by persons who undertook the construction project solely for their own education or recreation.
