FAR 21.251 : Limits of applicability.
(a)
Delegation option authorizations apply only to products that are manufactured by the holder of the authorization.
(b)
Delegation option authorizations may be used for–
(1)
Type certi.cation;
(2)
Changes in the type design of products for which the manufacturer holds, or obtains, atype certi.cate;
(3)
The amendmentof aproduction certi.cateheldbythe manufacturertoinclude additional models or additional types for which he holds or obtains a type certi.cate; and
(4)
The issue of–
(i)
Experimental certi.cates for aircraft for which the manufacturer has ap-plied for a type certi.cate or amended type certi.cate under Sec. 21.253, to permit the operation of those aircraft for the purpose of research and development, crew training, marketsurveys, or the showing of compliance with the applicable airworthiness requirements;
(ii)
Airworthiness certi.cates (other than experimental certi.cates) for air-craft for which the manufacturer holds a type certi.cate and holds or is in the process of obtaining a production certi.cate;
(iii) Airworthinessapprovaltags[(FAAForm8130-3)] forengines andpro-pellers for which the manufacturer holds a type certi.cate and holds or is in the process of obtaining a production certi.cate; and

(iv) Airworthiness approvaltags[(FAAForm8130-3)] forparts ofproducts covered by this section.
(c)
Delegation option procedures may be applied to one or more types selected by the manufacturer, whomust notifytheFAA of each model,and ofthe .rst serial number of each model manufacturedbyhim underthedelegationoptionprocedures.Other types or models may remain underthe standardprocedures.
(d)
Delegation option authorizations are subject to anyadditionallimitationsprescribed by the Administrator after inspection of the applicant’s facilities or review of the sta. quali.cations.

A statement listing the airworthiness requirements of this chapter (by part number and e.ective date) that the manufacturer considers applicable;
