(4)  Remove the access panel under the fuselage around the gascolator drain valve.  Refer to Section 52-40. 
(5)  Drain the fuel from the gascolator drain valve.  Use a suitable container. 
(6)  Disconnect the electrical cable for the transfer pump.  At the in-line connector. 
(7)  Disconnect the flexible hose which connects the transfer pump to the check valve at the T-piece.  At the fuel pump. Put caps on the connections. 
(8)  Disconnect the flexible hose which connects the fuel pump to the T-piece in the return line.  At the fuel pump. Put caps on the connections. 
(9)  Remove the fuel pump: S Release the bolts and washers from the fuel pump clamps. S Open each clamp and move the bonding cable and the pump clear of the clamps and away from the airplane.  Hold the fuel pump! Hold the bonding cable that connects the clamps.

% B. Install the Fuel Transfer Pump %

Detail Steps/Work Items  Key Items/References 
(1)  Move the fuel transfer pump into position in the mounting clamps.  Hold the fuel transfer pump. 
(2)  Install the fuel transfer pump: S Put a washer onto each attaching bolt. S Install the bolts through the clamps and into the pump mounting. S Position the bonding cable which connects the two clamps. S Tighten the bolts. 
(3)  Connect the electrical cable to the fuel transfer pump.  At the in-line connector. 
(4)  Install the flexible hose which connects the fuel transfer pump to the T-piece in the return line. 
(5)  Install the flexible hose which connects the fuel transfer pump to the check valve at the T-piece. 
(6)  Set the circuit-breaker for the fuel transfer pump.  Instrument panel, left side. 
(7)  Do a test for leaks at the connections for the fuel transfer pump and related equipment: S Make sure that there is fuel in the right tank. S Make sure that the left tank is not more than half full. S Set the ELECTRIC MASTER key switch to ON. S Set the FUEL TRANS . switch to ON. S Examine the fuel pump and connections for fuel leaks. S Set the FUEL TRANS . switch to OFF. S Set the ELECTRIC MASTER key switch to OFF.

S Install the bolts, nuts and washers to the support bracket at the forward bottom side of the cover. S Install the bolts, nuts and washers at the trailing edge.  Take care of the padding on the nose gear strut. 
(10)  Refuel the airplane.  Refer to Section 12-10.
