3.12.5.3 Required Fuel Screen.
NOTE
There is no connection between AMS and the helicopter’s fuel measurement system. All fuel calculations are based on pilot in-puts of fuel on board and estimated fuel .ow. These calculations are estimates, and advisory only. They do not replace the pri-mary fuel quantity system for fuel load and range planning.
CDU calculates and displays the amount of fuel required and fuel remaining to reach any waypoint in the active .ight plan. Calculations are performed using:
a. Pilot entered fuel on board and fuel .ow.
Change 3 3-57
b.
Either current helicopter groundspeed, or a pilot en-tered groundspeed.
c.
Either present position and time, or a pilot entered start waypoint and expected start time.
d.
Either great circle route direct to destination, or along the active .ight plan.
e.
The displays and functions of active soft keys are as follows:
CONTROL/ INDICATOR FUNCTION
gFR WPT Enter FROM waypoint number and name. When soft key is pressed, present position is displayed.
gTO WPT Enter TO waypoint number or
name.
GSs Enter groundspeed. When soft key is pressed, current groundspeed is displayed.
REQ-FUEL Displays the calculated pounds of fuel required to .y between the FROM and TO waypoints, either by .ight plan route, or direct between the two points.
REM-FUEL Displays the difference between available and required fuel. Annotated S to indicate surplus fuel, or D to indicate insufficient fuel.
FUEL AMT Enter initial board. pounds of fuel on
FUEL FLOW Enter expected average fuel .ow in lbs/hr.
FPNs Displays fuel calculations based on .ying the active .ight plan. If either waypoint entered in FR WPT or TO WPT is not part of the .ight plan, annunciation of WPT NOT IN FPN is displayed in scratchpad, and there will be no display in REM-FUEL or REQ-FUEL .elds.
DIRECTs Displays fuel calculation as .own as a direct to .ight plan. if

3.12.5.4 Required Groundspeed Screen. This screen permits the pilot to determine the required ground-speed to achieve a desired time over target. The calculation is based on either a direct-to operation, or .ying along the active .ight plan. These calculations are performed using:
a. Pilot entered desired arrival time at the waypoint.
b.
Either present position and time, or a pilot entered start waypoint and expected start time.
c.
Either great circle route direct to destination, or along the active .ight plan.
d.
The displays and functions of active soft keys are as follows:
CONTROL/ FUNCTION INDICATOR
gFR WPT Enter FROM waypoint number and name. When soft key is pressed, present position is displayed.
gTO WPT Enter TO waypoint number or name.
gSTART TIME Displays system time. Press soft key to edit time to an expected start time.
gTOT Used to enter the required time over target at the TO waypoint.
GS Displays calculated groundspeed in knots when either FPN or DIRECT soft key is pressed.
FPNs Displays groundspeed based on .ying the active .ight plan. If either waypoint entered in FR WPT or TO WPT is not part of the .ight plan, annunciation of WPT NOT IN FPN is displayed in scratchpad, and there will be no display in GS .eld.
DIRECTs Displays groundspeed as if .own as a direct to .ight plan.
